Comatose he/him Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 STORM IT I finally got around to writing an RP post, or at least a sizable part of one, when I accidentally closed the tab I was writing it in. On the one day I'd forgotten to back up my work. The auto-save only saved about half of my Backtrack post, and I lost what I'd written entirely for Glamour. Coupled with my left over grumpiness and bad mood, all I really want to do now is shove my face in a pillow and scream. I'm sorry too (and not just because the Glamour post was lost). As someone who has lost many posts of the years, I know how it can sour a mood, especially if it wasn't great to begin with. Personally, my posts never turn out as good the second time around, so I hope you are different! At the end of the day, it happens, so my sympathies are with you, and let me know if I can do anything to help . Anyways, I suck at cheering people up, so check out Pinkie Pie: 3
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted July 1, 2015 Author Posted July 1, 2015 Mine sometimes turn out better the second time around, like with one Quota post I lost, so maybe that'll be the case here. I'm on my phone so I can't post pictures, but would it help if I told you about Mollie's shoes of greeting? 1
Kobold King he/him Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 Thanks for the sympathy, guys. Especially for Pinkie Pie and the ocelot. And I'd love to hear about those shoes, Twi. 1
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted July 1, 2015 Author Posted July 1, 2015 (edited) Thanks for the sympathy, guys. Especially for Pinkie Pie and the ocelot. And I'd love to hear about those shoes, Twi. Well, she does this thing where she always brings a toy or some other item to anyone who comes home. For a while, she'd bring anything she could carry--usually one of her toys, but if a piece of laundry was lying in her path when she came to greet you, she'd bring that. I don't know why; maybe she just thinks it's rude to greet someone without giving them a gift. Lately, she's changed her methods from toys to random objects to shoes. Your own shoes, if she can manage it. I think her reasoning is that they smell like her people, so we're sure to like them. Or maybe they're just what she usually sees of us, being so small. Whatever the case, when I got back from errands this morning, she dropped the pillowcase she'd brought me in favor of one of the sandals I'd just taken off. She picked it up and pranced around in a circle while I thanked her for the gift. Edited July 1, 2015 by TwiLyghtSansSparkles 2

One of my cats likes to sleep in people's sandals, but a pug that fetches people's shoes and other assorted gifts is priceless. 2
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted July 2, 2015 Author Posted July 2, 2015 My flying raptor dropped me too hard and it HURT ME! No cheery fire 'cause my floating fortress don't have a CHIMNEY! I couldn't finish off the Balloner 'cause I don't got a 'chute Then I went to the queen, got a look to make me puke. Oh no, there's a diamond right where I wanna land Now Nighthound's being a creepy Epic, man. I got FIRST WORLD, FIRST WORLD PROBLEMS! 3

Why do I even need to write RP posts when you summarize them so neatly and concisely, Twi? 2
Blackhoof Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 I respect the Metal a bit after that Mary post. Almost makes me feel bad for plotting his murder
Voidus Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 Ouch, that's horrible. My condolence. This Ocelot really wants to cheer you up. OCELOTS ARE TOTES ADORBS! That is all.
Edgedancer he/him Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 Why do I even need to write RP posts when you summarize them so neatly and concisely, Twi? Because as entertaining as a song parody is, we enjoy your prose more. (ps. I hope Red doesn't get eaten by that skydiving dionosaur, not that she wouldn't deserve it.) I respect the Metal a bit after that Mary post. Almost makes me feel bad for plotting his murder Compared to the people he's around he isn't that bad, still not a good person by a long shoot but not as bad as the others.

It's like putting a college slacker who got drunk one night and wound up crippling someone with his car next to Jeffrey Dahmer and the Zodiac Killer: The slacker's still got quite a few things to answer for, but compared to the competition he actually seems pretty nice. Edit: Speaking of serial killers, it looks like I'll be reading I Am Not a Serial Killer on the plane after all. Edited July 2, 2015 by TwiLyghtSansSparkles 2

Edit: Speaking of serial killers, it looks like I'll be reading I Am Not a Serial Killer on the plane after all. But at least the college slacker has a good taste in music. Perfect, then you won't have an excuse to lay the book down. By the way, I noticed topics like Prof's weakness and is David an Epic over in the Calamity section, I keept away from the excerpt but is there actually a contend reason for those being there or is it still just based on content of the first two books?

Good taste in music covers….well, it doesn't really cover any sins, but it's something in his favor. Nope. It's just based on the content of the first two books. The excerpt, as I recall, doesn't have anything about Prof's weakness, so there was nothing for them to reference. (I'm considering making a post about how trauma-based triggers work, just because there are so many people who seem to think that exposure to his weakness would make him more rational, not less. I mean, they all say "Oh, that makes sense" when a weakness is compared to a PTSD trigger, but still.) Edited July 2, 2015 by TwiLyghtSansSparkles

Just skimmed it and I don't think there were any weaknesses that couldn't be refuted with the content of the books, either because it didn't fit his character or because he was already exposed to it in them. Anyway, it did bring the term Hipster Glass to my mind, so here, the original hipster!Glass. 2

I'm sure that when his weakness is revealed, every single reader will facepalm and ask themselves why they didn't see it in his first onscreen appearance. But right now, I'm ready to say we have no idea what his weakness is and we might as well just wait for Calamity to reveal it, because Brandon has hidden it too well and the more we try to guess, the further we probably get from the truth. There have been some pretty interesting guesses, though. Oh, she got her own colored sunglasses? Nice. Did she give the pink ones back to Backtrack, or did Shiny Sparkle give them to her next crush?

Of course, his weakness is chunky Salza, how didn't I see this before! In all honesty, the only instance that seemed like forshadowing for his weakness would be that bit about contests, but not only is that so obvious it's asking to be a redherring, but apparently he also played poker with some of the Reckoners and after David was the most gun-ho about on the fly action. Well, I think currently Vondra has the sunglasses or are we back to them being in the wastness of missing details? And on that note... 1

It's eclairs with too little filling, duh. I think it'll have something to do with all the clues that were mentioned, yet is still completely unpredicted. And what we know about him now doesn't give us any idea of what he was before Calamity. So there's no way to know what kind of a person he was before that, giving us no way to infer what would've been traumatic for a person with his temperament. Yes, Vondra has the sunglasses. Later tonight he will find them, put them on, and realize his entire life has been missing something….. 1
Edgedancer he/him Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 Who else thinks that it would make sense for me to wair with the next Lucentia post unstil after the mad Ballooner one, so she can blame Lightwards for him getting away? Sounds like something she'd do. Also, here's more Ocelot for everyone. 3

Voidus Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 Now the Adventurer has two equally terrifying options ahead of him, either he becomes music/mass genocide buddies with the Metal or he becomes Mary's new torture buddy.
RandomRevival he/him Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 Is this mary and metal in the dalles? Portland? Astoria?

Voidus Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 Meant to say Bioterror up there. Whoops. The Adventurer could be a murder buddy but he'd not be fond of torture.
