Working Title: Worldhopper

I'm working on a MYST-like game focused on the Cosmere. It will be low-quality graphics, most likely, but will have interesting puzzles. The main plot can be experienced by anyone with or without knowledge of the Cosmere, but I'm planning on adding loads of Easter Eggs for Cosmere fans, and it will take place in locations based on or presuming to be places from the Cosmere.

The main character, you, will be a silent protagonist who finds a tool, a new type of fabrial, that will allow you to hop between different world. As you progress, you will discover new parts for the tool that will allow you to absorb investiture from the places you visit and mimic powers similar to the magics found in those worlds. You will need to use the tool to unlock new areas and interact with different puzzles.

I will create a seperate forum website for development, but will release sneak-peak sketches and screenshots here. The website can be found here.

It is a moderately-sized project, with room for growth. I will be using the simplistic Adventure Maker program and the game will be free. Unfortunately, the only platforms supported by Adventure Maker are Windows, iPhone and iPod Touch and aparently the PlayStation Portable, (though I don't know yet how to deliver files to that device). I will export the game specifically for Windows and try an iPhone/iPad Touch release if there are no problems. I don't know if this development software will ever have Mac support or other platforms, but hopefully this covers at least the majority of people interested in playing.

Due to the nature of the game, there is room for any help from artists and inventive people who don't mind having parts of the game, or the entire game, spoiled for them. If you have skills in any of these areas at a moderate level and would like to submit assets as they are needed, please send me a PM with screenshots of samples of your work, or explanations where pictures do not apply. Even if you only submit a single piece of art, I will be extremely grateful.

Texture artist: UVW Unwrapping models to create a texture file; painting texture files.

3D Modeler: Modeling prop objects and buildings.

Digital Painter: Creating portraits of people or scenery that will be found hanging in buildings.

Puzzle Designer: Creating interesting puzzle mechanisms.

Cosmere Brainstormer: Searching the published works for interesting elements that can be used to tie the game to the Cosmere.

Sound FX Designer: Creating and recording noise files like whirring gears, water drops, pulled levers, opening walls, creature noises, etc.

Music Soundtrack Designer: Creating ambient music to add a unique flavor for each location; creating musical effects to add emotional cues.

Possible future roles that may or may not be implemented:
Voice actors
3D Animators
2D Animators

Keep in mind that any submitted assets may or may not be used in the final game, or may be replaced later. I will try to find a place for everything, within reason, but there's no promise. I appreciate any and all offers to help, however, and your name will be added to the credits whether your contributions are included or not.

As a final note, the game will most likely avoid any existing characters from the books and no plot spoilers will be included. This will be more like a way to allow fans of the Cosmere to step into the worlds they have learned to love and experience a piece of what other fans envision it to be.

Current Team:

Kaymyth-Soundtrack Designer
LarkoftheRiver-2D Artist/Digital Painter
Lindel-Puzzle Designer/Flavor Writer
ThirdGen-Puzzle Designer/Flavor Writer
Turos-Game Designer/Fill-in-the-blanks
Venture Mistborn-Cosmere Brainstormer/Plot Designer

Hmm... I'm not really any good at drawing or coding, but I could assist with writing flavor or creating puzzle ideas.  And I can definitely voice act.

I'm thinking your music writing software could be of use here.  Have it spit out raw melodies, and then we just play with them until we have cool atmospheric music.

I could also help with music. Not writing, but if you needed a flute player I'm here.

Ooo.  Flute duet!

Were you thinking of each world having its own musical "feel" to it?

Awesome! That is exactly what I am thinking.

We'll have to see about voice acting later if that becomes a thing, but it's good to know we have someone. Puzzle ideas and help with anything to add flavor are definitely welcome!

Here's a scene of the Shattered Plains so far. I may scrap it, as it is just me testing making terrains in blender, but its coming along nicely. I need to work out the lighting more. Something is preventing shadows to an extent. :/

Yes! Let's go! All my Cosmere friends are in band. We could play it out as well.

And if I pull the right strings, I could probably get my animation teacher to help with the 3D or even 2D art. But that'll be a while.

I get home tomorrow, and can sketch a bit in the car. What would you like me to start on with 2D? Designs, maps?

Edit:

I love that shattered plains. Owo

Hey, anyone is more than welcome to help. Lucky for everyone, we don't need to worry about my lack of programming ... finesse. The program is coding free, at least as far as I intend to go with it for now. Simple structure with inventory options and available plugins.

I'll post current needs on the development forums so we don't spoil anything. ;) See you there!

I'd be willing to help out with flavor or puzzle design, but it sounds like ThirdGen's got that covered. Let me know if you need any extra help in that area. If you need some voice actors in the future, I'd be up for that as well.

I can't speak for our brave creator Turos, but I'd say that more people working on puzzles = better.  You're more likely to get a better variety of ideas there to keep things interesting for the players.

Would it be okay if I give the link to the development site to a few of my Cosmere reading friends? Two are pretty good artists (tho one is kinda unreliable for things like this) and one is really good at plots and such.
