Shardplate is crystallized Stormlight?

So I was just rereading a few passages from WoK and WoR, and noticed that although there are multiple references to Stormlight causing "Frost" to form when used, there is no associated "Cold" description. Similarly, I didn't find any reference to this "Frost" melting (I remember, but can't find, an instance of someone brushing the "Frost" off their arm, but I don't remember any mention of the skin underneath being wet)

What if this "Frost" isn't actually frozen water, but rather crystallized Stormlight deposits that if left can grow/combine into a suit of Shardplate?

To complete the formation the KR would need to use a LOT of Stormlight in a short time, and maybe the growth would be directed/guided by the Knight's Spren. (That last part would mean that the Herald's can't grow themselves a set of Shardplate, which would explain why they weren't wearing any at the end of the previous Desolation)

This is certainly an interesting idea.  I fear that I may be misunderstanding, but I do find references to "cold" effects (quotes below).  In addition, stormlight is basically investiture and guite powerful.  I find it difficult to believe that it would dissipate with so little effect.

Szeth blinked, Lashing himself to that distant point down the hallway. Stormlight raged from him in a flash, chilling his skin, and the ground immediately stopped pulling him downward.

Kaladin felt a deep chill— a rolling prickle of ice— scurry down his spine and through his entire body. The sphere suddenly burst to life in his hand, flaring with a sapphire glow.

Memories of deathspren were blended with relived parts of his life— and both mixed with strange, sudden shocks of strength— icy cold, but refreshing. It had been like the cold air of a crisp morning after a long night in a stuffy room, or like rubbing the sap of gulket leaves on sore muscles, making them feel warm and cold at the same time.

He pressed it against the wall of the barrack and willed his Light into the stone.

He felt a chill. The rock began to stream with luminescent vapors. When Kaladin pulled his hand away, the stone remained where it was, clinging to the side of the building.

The 1st quote definitely runs counter to my theory, though doesn't completely rule it out. (There could be a cooling effect, but from the description that wouldn't be enough to cause frost to form)

The rest are a "chill" feeling. I've been known to get that feeling in the middle of summer when it's hot out, so that's not distressing.

Feeling chilled even in the middle of summer when it's hot out can have a few different causes, depending on what's going on--listening to really, really good music, beginning symptoms of heat exhaustion, etc.

The quotes that hoser provided are all directly related to the use of Stormlight.  While they may not immediately rule out your theory, I think they do make it much more unlikely than likely.  Which is weird, because I think that using crystallized Stormlight to form Shardplate is very, very plausible as an idea.

I agree they're problematic, but what I was getting at is that feeling "a chill" is a function of the nervous system's expectation of hot/cold, not a measurement of actual temperature change. For example, a person with a fever gets "chilled" because the nervous system gets recalibrated to expect a higher temperature, even though their body temperature is actually increased.

Stormlight, especially when used by someone with limited experience with it, could cause a similar recalibration. What's really needed is a comment from someone not using Stormlight, about the temperature of either a KR filled with Stormlight or about an object covered in Stormlight.
