Oneyespike
Personally, I use the mobile version of the site a lot, (I'm on iPhone) and whenever I click a link to go to... Say... A post, or the homepage or wherever else, every other link will bring me to the desktop version of the site. I don't know of a way to fix this (ametuer coder) but you could try defining the links better to differentiate the two. While on the topic of the mobile version, it needs to integrate all the features of the desktop site, I've used many services that fail to do this, and it annoys me to no end... (Also, I've tried the IPboard app and it won't let me access this site..)
Chaos
Hmmm! I'm sorry to hear that this is being problematic for you, Oneyespike. In my experience, tapping on links in the mobile version of the site does indeed keep you within the mobile version. I shall try and figure out why it's doing that for you and let you know, because you're right! That totally should not happen.

(Also, I've tried the IPboard app and it won't let me access this site..) I've been trying to get your results to replicate on my iPhone, and I've had no luck at all. I've tried three separate browsers, and nothing is doing it. Could you perhaps give a more detailed description of what's happening, where it's happening, and on which browser so that I can replicate it to see where the issue is? As for integrating all the features of the site into the mobile version, frankly, it's not going to happen anytime soon. We've tried it, and found that it's not possible without being either extremely hard to navigate or being cluttered, and I'm not okay with either option. I'm sorry that it "annoys you to no end", but that's the way it's going to stay for now. Our primary focus is on making the desktop site have the features, while keeping the mobile version simple and clean so that you can easily navigate the news and the forums from your phone. As for the IPboard app not being able to access the site, that's very intentional. To enable the IPboard app, every time someone goes to the mobile site, they're informed about the (paid, if memory serves) app alternative to the mobile view. I've seen one too many mobile sites that have that annoying popup informing you of said app that I refused to let that happen on 17S.
Chaos
What features would you want on the mobile version? Now, I'll be honest. I don't often use mobile sites on my phone. I find the extra power to be much more useful, without much drawback on my platform of choice, Android. I just pinch to zoom and it works okay. I am certainly not saying that you using the mobile site is bad, and I'm totally cool with that (after all, I'm kind of weird, so my use cases are probably not the best to go off of ), I just wanted you to know my sort of point of view. The mobile versions will get better over time. And the mobile forum navigation will eventually integrate better with our front page and Shardcast content and such. Right now, I'm not at all pleased with the UI, as it feels very much just like a mobile forum, not a complete website. You should at least be able to access all areas of the site and view them quickly and easily with the mobile version. And then, you should be able to type some responses and do some commenting. That feels like a pretty good balance on features/cleanliness to me. What other things would you want? I'm genuinely curious. Certainly there's work to be done on the mobile side, though many of them are long term goals.
Chaos
Also, I've tried hard to replicate the issue on my devices, and I've been unsuccessful. I was thinking that maybe that if you're logged in, the board is using your default skin regardless of you being on desktop or mobile, but the mobile site worked fine for me even when logged in. Very interested to know which browser/more information.

The site starts out in mobile mode and then switches to desktop mode, and then sometimes it gets stuck on desktop mode and won't switch back to mobile mode. So far it always alternates between desktop and mobile mode when it doesn't get stuck.
Chaos
Hmmm, okay. Josh, test Atomic Web Browser on your iPhone and see if you can reproduce it?
Kurkistan
If you're taking requests, I think some easy way to access our notifications would be nice. Also, posts list peoples' profile pictures, rather than their avatars, at the moment. Edited February 27, 2013 by Kurkistan
Rubix
We aren't taking requests right now. Sorry Kurk. Right now our focus is getting the main site updated, and then we'll move on to getting the mobile site up to scratch. I tested Atomic Web Browser, and was finally able to replicate the problem, but it's an easy fix. there's a drop down at the bottom of the page that gives you two options, IP.Board and IP.Board Mobile. Just select the IP.Board Mobile option and you should be good to go.
