Steel Compounder
Just so you know, the theory is not based on any evidence, I just came up with it. Ok, so ferrings can't tap into other ferrings metalminds right? So what if while they're storing their identity in aluminum, they can tap into other metalminds? It kind of makes sense... Also, on a side note, does anyone else feel like ruin shouldn't be able to change info in metalminds? Because the information is kind of set in metal. And why can't allomancers effect aluminum, it sort of make it seems m like allomancy is magnetic... I except gold isn't very magnetic either... I don't know... Arook he/him
Feruchemy is in part from Ruin so his tampering there makes sense. As for the aluminum thing i believe that it is possible. For how allomancy interacts with metal, it does so because of the bond that ruin and preservation have with the metals of the planet. When one of those shards looks at metal it is like looking at a bright light they know its their they see it but can not focus on it. That is why things written in metal are not visible to them but at the same time that makes all metal react to their powers on a different level then the normal physical level we experience.

natc
The theory I've seen and like is that he tries to mindscrew you and mess with the information right before it enters the metalmind. Like rewiring a keyboard without touching the computer memory. Aluminum pops up in the strangest of places and the full implications of its properties is unknown. There's definitely no magnetic force going on in the usually referenced sense, as allomancy can establish steel/iron lines even to trace metals in humans and ink (nearly everything really) and TLR managed to even vibrate the stained glass windows with his pushes while fighting Vin. Though I do want to point out that you can magnetize anything from a lump of iron to a frog to liquid oxygen.
Arook he/him
All things react to magnetism it just varies from thing to thing and in what direction the reaction occurs
