Any digital artists out there?

Do any of you happen to be skilled in 3d character modeling? How about any texture artists? I'm thinking of creating a short animation in Blender featuring a fight between a coinshot and a lurcher from the Mistborn trilogy.

Anyone interested?

Do either of you have a portfolio or some examples of your work? 2D would be amazing, but I know how much work drawing out every frame can be. I have some experience in rigging character models and animating them, as well as various objects.

Here are some example .gifs:

That winged wolf is awesome! Just had to say that.

Progress on the fight scene:

The coinshot is looking like he will be a kickboxer and the lurcher a capoeirista. There are some fun little tricks each can use by augmenting their style with their allomancy.

Is there anything you want me to do? I could possibly storyboard, but my storyboards are kinda messey and can be hard to read.

Another thing- maybe you should pick a song (A cool one to use could be United We Stand, Divided We Fall by Two Steps From Hell) and then try to do the scene as well. I'm currently planning an animation that way.

No clue how much help I can be currently (school is dying down but is about to pick back up, then I'll be done after finals) but once I'm out I'm sure I can help.

I could also probably texture things, using an image and then laying it over the model. Maybe.

Are you interested in starting texturing smaller props for the scene and see how you like it? If you find texturing isn't your style, that's fine. I'm going to take a while to make this, and will attempt to model the characters myself. In the mean time, I'll put together some props and buildings.

I like that track. Sounds intense. I might put together a track of my own later, but for now, this one works. Thanks for the suggestion. I'm going to try storyboarding, then get feedback and adjust it to where things look good. Please be patient with me, though. I work fifty plus hours a week, and will be doing this mostly on the weekends. Definitely a slow-process, but that just means we can take time to polish stuff up and all that good stuff.

Thanks for your help, Lark! If trying out texturing interests you, I can whip up a couple models for you to play with. Do you have a computer that can run Blender? If not, that's fine, though it could make things a little easier for you to visualize by testing the texture and seeing how it fits. I can always send you screenshots, though.

Totally fine, your project! Fifty hours is a lot. Unsure how much help I can be on the 3D aspect but I can definitely give suggestions throughout the process. Oh, and I can also do the final effects and cuts! I'm currently using Premiere and After Effects, and I can probably do something cool with that for the final editing process.

I don't have Blender currently but can easily get it this weekend. I've used it before, but only briefly. I currently use Maya for all my 3D work but am not very proficient in it yet. I've only worked for a few weeks in it, and its on a school computer. I'm currently working up a wolf rig in my freetime.

How does texturing in blender work, exactly? Do you take an image and lay it over the mesh/form, or is is a paint on sort of thing?

Oh, Maya should work fine. Sorry, I skipped over the part earlier where you mentioned you have done some modeling. Final effects sound really good.

I hope I am not getting in over my head. It's been a while since I last messed around in Blender.

I'll have to round up a copy this weekend of Maya for my home computer, but I qualify for a free student version so it shouldn't be an issue with money. Unless you want to sell this video, which is a whole 'nother ball game.

Same. I haven't worked in 3D nearly as much as 2D. But I feel that the animation will be easier doing 3D. We can mess with it together and get used to it together.

I could also maybe sketch face designs, or at least clothing designs if you don't want to model faces.
