Lurker Greeting

Arcturus

Recommended Posts

'Ello, fellow BS readers. (smirk)

I'm just introducing myself.

I'm Arcturus, and a big fan of all things sci-fi/fantasy (and Brandon apparently fits into both of those categories, though I was unaware of that until I started reading here)

I've read WoK and Warbreaker, and I just got Elantris, so I'm about to start digging into that. I really love Brandon's holistic approach to his writing (how he thinks EVERYTHING out... it reminds me of Tolkien).

I discovered this forum when I was lurking when I should have been studying for finals at my university... but late night lurking is the best.

I read a lot of stuff: WoT, Patrick Rothfuss, Frank Herbert, Orson Scott Card, Cory Doctorow, Hannu Rajanemi (I do not know how to spell his name, but it's Danish, and I have no patience for how slow Google can be on my internet...), Isaac Asimov, Stephen R Donaldson (the creator of the best antihero in fantasy history), Phillip K Dick, Tolkien, Ursula K LeGuin, and whoever wrote the Riddlemaster of Hed. Along with Mercedes Lackey.... and more. I just can't think of any more names.

I don't really remember how I got into fantasy. I've been reading it since I could read any book of five-hundred pages or more, which was third grade for me.

HRm... Let's see. I write for film, and I'm getting into directing too (I'm just a student, so you definitely haven't heard of anything I've made)... That's about it.

I look forward to posting my insane theories here. (Watch out... I've got a full three page thesis on why Iago is the tragic hero of Othello... I've been known to argue useless points about minor characters and major characters into oblivion...)

Edit: OH! And if anyone here reads webcomics, I would love to know if you read Gunnerkrigg Court. That's another massive obsession of mine.

Please use the edit button instead of double posting. And welcome to the glories of membership! -Rubix

Edit: thanks!

Welcome to Shard @Arcturus! I recommend reading Mistborn after you finish Elantris. Read it thoroughly - cover to cover to get everything.

Don't be intimidated by the craziness of this forum, just accept it and try not to get too addicted.

Also be wary of cookies. They often are spiked (Mistborn reference).
