Aidulin41
Hi eeveryone. I'm Aidulin, and I just read a Brandon Sanderson book for the first time. I'm hooked, I think. The one I read was The Rithmatist, and there's only one so far in that series, so I was wondering which series you guys think I should read next? I know you'll all have ideas, but I want to get to know this fanbase a little better.
Voidus
Welcome to the forums!Well if you liked the Rithmatist I'd probably suggest Steelheart which is his other YA series, or if you wanted to get started on the cosmere novels I always recommend Elantris first since it was his first published book, then Warbreaker, Mistborn, Alloy of Law, Stormlight Archive, Emperor's soul.At least you're not short on options
vineyarddawg
Welcome to the 17th Shard! I agree that if you liked the general tone of Rithmatist, the Reckoners series (Steelheart and Firefight) is also YA-themed and might appeal to you. If you really liked trying to figure out the magic of the Rithmatic world, though... all the defenses and chalkings and whatnot... then I'd recommend Elantris next, because the magic systems in that book are also writing-based and subject to elaborations, interpretations, etc. My overall recommended order, if you really want to dive into Sanderson's "Cosmere" world, is: - Elantris - Warbreaker - Mistborn series (4 books) - Stormlight Archive (Way of Kings and Words of Radiance) - All the other Cosmere novellas and short stories Finally, I really like a little sci-fi short story that doesn't get much play, probably because because it's free and is a standalone story not connected to anything else Sanderson has written: Defending Elysium. It's available for free on Brandon's website. Edited March 25, 2015 by vineyarddawg
