hogiewan
My theories as follows: (I'm new, I did some searching but got nothing on this so here goes) 1) The Heralds are bearers of the shards of Honor itself. 2) The Honorblades (the Herald's weapons), are in fact the main shards of Honor itself. 3) Shardblades & Shardplate are made from smaller splinters of Honor. 4) Tanavast shattered the Shard himself to give man means to defend themselves. 5) The Oathpact was an agreement by all the Heralds to act together as a Champion of Tanavast (And as bearers of the shards of Honor), thus allowing them to bind Odium to the rules. 6) This was the reason for the Desolations, they were mandated contests for Roshar itself as per the rules. 7) When the Heralds quit, the Desolations stopped as Odium was no longer obliged to compete and so he was free to influence the world unimpeded. 8) The Knights Radiant gave up their armor when the first Man vs Man war broke out, showing that Odium was influencing man unimpeded, possibly realising that the Heralds hadn't left because they'd won, and that they'd just quit. 9) Honor (Tanavast) died because the Heralds and broken their oath, as had the Knights Radiant and they were the last bearers of the shards that were bound by the Oaths (the creeds that gave the KR and also the Heralds their power). Feel free to tell me how I don't know what im talking about
Straff Venture
Nice theory, but I wouldn't think that Odium, the most powerful of the sixteen, could be bound in any way by Honor's rules. I also wouldn't say the largest battle of the cosmere so far was a contest as such. Still, its good to see new idea even if I think its questionable
Observer
There's a theory around that Shards can force their intent on one another. Odium making two shards hate eachother and fight, and Honor forcing Odium to play by the rules.
