Left he/him Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 So how bad did firefight mess with ya'll's rp cannon? I just finished the book last night.
Edgedancer he/him Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 So how bad did firefight mess with ya'll's rp cannon? I just finished the book last night. Differs from person to person, for most people I think adapting new weaknesses was the worst that happened. Personally, Firefight didn't harm me in any major ways and gave me a free pass for some maters concerning Voidgaze, so I'm a-okay.
Kobold King he/him Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 Nice, I actually like this mane better. I'll keep you as my hairdresser. So did you just gather them for the vault or is there a deeper reason for the us-ponies resurfacing? Yay! I'm employed. Mainly just wanting them for the Vault. Once I have a few more self-ponies compiled I was thinking of a group portrait. All of us gathered around a gameboard or something, using the tiny ponies from the shipping!Regalia comic as pieces. So how bad did firefight mess with ya'll's rp cannon? I just finished the book last night. Firefight spoilers: The big curveball from the book was the Rending, which messed up a few character backstories, but that was easily fixed. A lot of weaknesses needed to be changed with the revelation of the pattern they follow, but since precious few of them had been seen in the RP, this was largely an invisible retcon. So all in all, we weathered the first major canon highstorm pretty well.
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted March 7, 2015 Author Posted March 7, 2015 So how bad did firefight mess with ya'll's rp cannon? I just finished the book last night. Well…. the Rending wreaked havoc with a few characters' backstories, so we decided to handwave that when it conflicts with established characterization. The corruption angle changed the future of more than one character, mine included, but nothing too major. More than one weakness had to be changed, while others simply had to be tweaked to fit in with the fears thing. All in all, though, we didn't do too badly. While there are some aspects of this RP that do conflict with canon, I think the general consensus was that it isn't a big deal. The work other players have done for this RP is commendable, and when we need to, I think we're perfectly fine sticking to our fanon. On another note….wasn't Firefight amazing? 1

I almost forgot they were a problem for some people. 1
Kobold King he/him Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 You'll regret it once you have to work at Lucentia's new mane. As long as I'm supplied with earmuffs and am nowhere in the vicinity when she's supplied with a mirror to look at her new mane, I'm sure I'll be fine. 2

For the others, it didn't really need to be handwaved, since they're almost all psychotic slontzes anyway. 1

Dealing with Rendings is a lot easier, if you don't have any new Epics. In my case most had something like that already and the remnants were amoral enough that it didn't pose a problem. In my case most had something like that already and the remnants were amoral enough that it didn't pose a problem. I've made it a personal policy to never be optimistic about Lucentia. It all goes back to when she hadn't yet been introduced, and I thought, "Maybe she'll be a little better than Nighthound. Or at least not as bad." Silly me. Same here. The one I'm thinking of had something similar, but it was a lot more gradual. The Rending actually cut a lot of filler from her backstory and made it more chilling overall. 1
Kobold King he/him Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 Someone seems optimistic. The Rending's definitely improved my plans for a certain new Epic who'll be coming at some point. 3

Kobold, why do you have a hairbrush in that comic? It's supposed to be a chainsaw, right? Like all surprises, the Rending brought upsides and drawbacks. In this manner, it is similar to the invention of shoes, the upside of which meant mankind could walk outside without fear of rattlesnakes. On the other hand, it meant that the brief golden age where people lounged about in their pajamas was over. 3

I get around "No shoes, no shirt, no service" by never leaving the house. 1

Kobold King he/him Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 Does it listen to the name Jingleberry? Nope. Jingleberry's already an Epic by the time of the RP, and has been for several years. Curse my middle-class suburban neighborhood requiring me to get a job! The downside is that my refusal to leave the house means I have no tan to speak of, and am thus compelled to wear a shirt nonetheless. The last time I went outside without a shirt on, hummingbirds challenged their reflections in my bare chest before I caught fire. 3

Is this the point where I talk about leaving the house daily, because I go jogging? Edited March 7, 2015 by Edgedancer 1

Speaking of Epics, does anyone have anything against characters namedropping an especially bloodthirsty Epic named Shiasurprise who terrorized LA during his Rending? That sounds unpleasant. I don't have much of a tan, either, which I am okay with. The only alternative is to spend time outside in the Arizona sunshine, which causes me to melt. Almost literally. 3

Is this the point where I talk about leaving the house daily, because I go jogging? You don't know for a fact that I'm not talking about Darkrose. If you wish. I feel like I'm almost getting a joke or a pun here but I'm not getting it. Tans, smans. I am white as ivory indoors and red as Calamity outside, and I like it that way.

You're welcome? I think it exists because the creators decided to make the weirdest video ever, even by internet standards. And…well, they succeeded. 1

Edgedancer he/him Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 They sure did. Consider me a tentative supporter of the High Epic Shiasurprise. Memorize the name Robcantor, he shall be weird. He can do Jiujitsu and only dies by decapitation. 2
