Blaze1616 he/him Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 Willow? No. Clue: The boy is somewhat deterred due to his peers believing his magic to be superstition, but his blind optimism overcomes this.
Blaze1616 he/him Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 Trust yourself. You can do this one. That's a fantastic gif. 1
Blaze1616 he/him Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 You're getting much warmer. I'm trying to decide when to offer the clue that gives it away. The boy's travels puts him in a location that has a climate that is the same, yet the opposite, of the one he grew up in.
Guest Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 Ooohh, so desert and desert is the same, but cold.and hot are not.
Jo and the Bush all/any Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 Hm. An exiled king and the grandaughter of a god investigate a murder.
ccstat he/him Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 I want to say Hundred Thousand Kingdoms, but the roles are reversed (exiled god and granddaughter of a king)
Jo and the Bush all/any Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 Nope. The murder happened in a magical city.
Pestis the Spider she/her Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 It kind of sounds like one of the Discworld books. One of these ones with Susan. But maybe I'm mistaken, since I haven't read them in a long, long time? Hogfather? I'm really just guessing here. No idea. 1
Jo and the Bush all/any Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 It's not from Discworld. This book was recommended to me by one of Brandon's assistants.
ccstat he/him Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 Ah. Must be City of Stairs. Haven't read it yet, but it's getting closer to the top of my list.
Jo and the Bush all/any Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 Eyup. A most excellent read.
ccstat he/him Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 (edited) A vagrant going door to door for food is turned away and eventually killed by the unwelcoming residents. Hint 1: In the course of events, two brothers separately discover the importance of homeowner's insurance. Hint 2: While it is common in many fictive cultures to swear by variants of "God's beard," the brothers in this story stand out in that they often swear by their own facial hair. ccstat he/him Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 The Three Little Pigs. He huffed and he puffed and he blew the bad description in!
Paragrin she/her Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 (edited) Small town resists gentrification as large corporation with strong religious ties buys up popular community landmarks. One such acquisition is an orange farm. Said corporation has already taken over a nearby town, seen as rivals by the first. The signature color of the corporation is complementary to that of the town, though they sure don't see it that way. The protagonist works at the local radio station. ccstat he/him Posted September 9, 2015 Posted September 9, 2015 Sorry, even with the hints that doesn't sound like anything I know.
