Hey all,

After going to my 4th Sanderson signing yesterday (Yay for Firefight!) and having read most of his published works, I've finally decided to join this awesome community.

I am a published author myself, with 2 books being complete. I'm currently working on my first Fantasy novel, the first book in a trilogy. It is coming along nicely. :)

I can't wait to get more involved on these forums, and to meet a lot of you!

Welcome to 17th Shard! :)  What type of books did you write/publish? I'm working on a book series too :)

Thanks guys! I my two previous novels were science fiction. The first book I had published, called Core of the Nations, is a twist on the concept of Adam and Eve. Instead of being names, they are titles. The world is approaching an inevitable end, and the reader discovers that this is actually the 4th time the world has come to an end. The 2 main characters have been chosen to be the next "Adam" and "Eve" and bring about the next world life. It looks at the past and shows how the other Adams and Eves dealt with the human race in their different times. As it was my first book, the writing isn't great... I intend on going back and cleaning up, and making some plot changes to make the story better.

The 2nd book I wrote has nothing to do with the 1st. It's called The Network. It was a blast to write, and I spent a lot of time on it. It goes a couple of hundred years into the future and shows what social networking has done to the human race.

The series I'm currently writing right now is kind of in the world building stages. I have written the prologue, and I've begun the outline, but mostly, I'm world building, prepping the story to make it awesome (thanks to Sanderson's lectures online! I have a much better understanding on how to make a book/series a lot more cohesive). I've got about 25,000 words out on Characters, Plots, Places, Settings, and Magic System. Over the weekend, I actually decided on how I'm going to end the trilogy, which was pretty monumental. Yay for writing!

Your second book, The Network, reminds me of a book by David Eggers that I read called The Circle. It's about how a Facebook-like company has more or less become so influential in all things that they have begun to shape the world that we live in...for better or worse. The main character drinks the kool-aid and find herself down a crazy, conspiratorial rabbit hole. If you haven't read it, I highly recommend it, seeing that I couldn't put it down on my last work TDY trip. (Oh, that and White Sand, get a copy of that from Brandon if you haven't already).

I can answer that. I got mine in less than a week after emailing Brandon. However I am guessing if you have sent your request in the last few days it may get delayed because Brandon and his team are busy with Firefight tour. :)

Edit: I asked about 6 months ago.

No, I sent my request a couple weeks back, but I suspect it did get delayed. How long ago did you ask for yours?

You watch those lectures, too! Dude, virtual high five! :D

So you are an architect? I am a gardener myself. I will have to check out your books, friend.

I used to be a gardener, through and through, but I'm finding myself to be somewhere in the middle now. I'm discovering how useful structure really is. If you're interested in any of my books, PM me your email address and I'll send you a complimentary digital copy. :)

Thanks for the recommendations, Titan Arum! I'll have to check them out!
