However, as is stated in the second oath of the 17th sharders "We will fill our forum with stupid theories, so long as some of them may be right". As I was re-reading Words of Radiance, I noticed Adolins' mother's chain. Adolin keeps it in his pocket whenever he duels. Then he conveniently "forgets" it just before he duels those four shardbearers? I don't buy it. "So Mister Chain... where were you on the day of the duel?" * Note: Subject is sweating profusely * We've got him on the ropes. Now all we need to do is figure out which Unmade took him. ---------------------------- But seriously, the chain going missing is such an innocent little thing that I almost have to assume it's important just because of that. Why does Adolin thinks he needs to keep it in his pocket? It could just be a memento, but the fact that he talks to his Shardblade has roots in something real, just like how religions on Shardworlds are based off of real events in worldbuilding. The fact that the chain was taken drew Renarin away for the early part of the duel. Which was why he was pressed for time, and couldn't get his armor on before he entered the arena --------------------------- But that's all I can think of. You may mock me now. In ten years, however, we may find out that the chain actually has a huge significance (It's Hoid's secret weakness or something), and I will lord over it for days. Also I agree that it is suspicious that an important item of Adolin's that he usually doesn't enter a duel without was missing right before the biggest duel of his life. "I suppose you have the right to not speak without a lawyer, but innocent chains don't need lawyers." Chain sits there. Doing nothing. Inspector throws his hands up in despair. "Get out." If all you are going to say is that one sentence, we are going to have a problem. I am trying to conduct an interview with the illustrious Mr. Chain and you keep getting in the way. You either get me something else, or you are fired." "I'm sorry sir," the translator said. "Thank you. Now, how was your childhood, Mr. Chain?" ".... I am a chain," the translator said reluctantly.
