Nope, and I like the idea. The only thing I would note is that such an Epic would probably have kept a relatively low profile, explaining why (s)he hasn't been mentioned as of yet.

Granted, Redlight hasn't been mentioned in the RP yet either, and Vondra and Deathwish haven't even made appearances, so it's likely not an issue at all.

When Nighthound uses the word "yes," it is offensive to half the world's population.

Hopefully this doesn't turn out like the last gifter from the RP. *Glares at Nighthound*

I think that's what I find most disturbing about Nighthound. As a Gifter he doesn't even have the excuse of Calamity's corruption to fall back on for the most part.

Nighthound's a gifter?

When he creates a "hound," he gifts that person some of his strength and agility, though this also give him control of their mind. My headcanon is that he could refrain from taking control if he wanted, though I don't think this has been confirmed.

Ruining my theory that Gifting was only given to good people. His morality drags the average down to somewhere around the serial killer region even with Prof raising the bar. :(

We know where Vondra is but what exactly is up with Deathwish?

I think you might be underestimating your numbers.

I was thinking of writing a viewpoint for him once the pandas start pouring into the city. It'll be easier to illustrate his powers against beings that use weapons, as opposed to pigs or squirrels.

And just for the record, no one thinks any the less of you for Nighthound's creepiness. It takes an excellent writer to create a memetic monstrosity like him. :)

One word: Conflux.

Feel better? I do.

Am I the only one who just wanted to give that guy a big hug? All the Epics we'd met in the novel up to then were cold and murderous psychopaths. He was the first one that was just a cuddly old man with a tragic past and a sweet demeanor.

I agree. :)

I did. I wanted to invite him over for dinner and just hug him. He wasn't the hero they'd been waiting for, but he was something even more precious: someone who managed to keep his humanity, and remain kind to everyone, while surrounded by monsters.

Twi got it right. To get the "benefits" from gifting he would have to stop mindcontroling them, which is rather unlikely to happen. (I think that part is in his profile.)

Ah yes, the benefits of being tied to a chair and used as a human batery. What a wonderful live...... You´re right, he needs a hug.

Thinking about Conflux just made me even sadder.

Of the three Gifters, one is a sociopathic creep factory of murder and evil, one is mostly just endearingly tragic and only one approaches genuine moral Superheroism.

Assuming that gifters can be made out of terrible people. For all we know, we'll learn next Tuesday that Nighthound is completely and utterly impossible by the laws of Calamity. And there will be a terrible mixture of joy and vexation across the entire Question thread. :P

Though if Brandon Sanderson ever does another Q&A on the forum, I'd like to ask him whether zombie-creating necromancers are possible in the Reckonerverse.

I've always assumed it was self-interest that made a gifter good or bad. From what little we saw, Prof seemed to have at least some degree of self-interest (possibly making it easier for him to snap when using his powers) while Conflux appeared to have none. Which just makes Nighthound even worse, because selfishness is a difficult habit to break.

If I learn next week that Funtimes is impossible by the laws of this Verse, I'll have her blow a raspberry at Calamity and turn all of Newcago into sponge cake. Because I can.

The intriguing thing about us being rendered definitively non-canon is that the ultimate fate of our version of Oregon would become suddenly a lot more ambiguous.

If that happens, we should make an Epic who can create portals to the Rithmatist universe.

I´m pretty sure that at this point we are beyond completely adhering to canon. Although, the though of something mythical like a good end is... intriguing. :P

An Epic made everyone else THINK Oregon was destroyed, but really Möbius sent them to an alternate universe where they watch TV and eat fig bars? :P

And to the Cosmere, and the Free Kingdoms.

This idea is pleasing to mine eyes.

In an Oregon that's forced to subsist entirely without imports, I think Sausage McMuffins would be the normal food of choice.

Of course, the destruction of Oregon may have occurred when everybody got high blood pressure and perished from sheer processed food overload. Megan's claims of devastated trees and cities were derived from hallucinations brought on by the high quality of Big Al's sandwhiches. :P

My most recent Timeport post is my (I think) second most respected Oregon post.

Um thanks. I think

First finished character in the process of animation!:

Dr. Funtimes. For now. I might redo her.

Sorry it's sideways. I hope you didn't expect a work that belonged in a museum. But this is just the beginning.

Cool! I recognized her right away, though I'm pretty sure her hair isn't pink... actually, I've been assuming it was black for a while now, but I'm not entirely sure. I think TwiLyght gave a comprehensive description of the character at one point, but I can't remember all the details now.

What color is her hair, and does her prom dress stop before it reaches her shoulders or does it come all the way up to her neck?

Winter, is there a specific animation style you're going for? If so, do you know of any finished animations in the same style you're working with? I'm just wanting a firmer idea of what the finished product will look like. :)

Ah, seems like god old stop motion animation.

You now, there is a description in her bio. Black hair, knee lenght dress and knee high socks. For more detail I refer to Twi´s more detailed description.

No sooner had I posted about my confusion than I realized I could check the Epics of Oregon thread.

Though I confess to having not the slightest idea what "tulle black petticoats" are.

That´s what google is for. Apparently it´s a mix between a skirt and a tutu.

She's small, about 5'2", fair skinned with no freckles and brown eyes. Her hair is black, about chin length, and curly. Her prom dress is sleeveless but it does cover her shoulders.

Very detailed and about what I imagined. Might I say that actually visualizing her clothes is rather bizarre.

Say Kobold, looking at Twi´s signature I remembered. "Whatever happened to that David style file for Voidgaze?"
