RawToast225 he/him Posted December 10, 2014 Posted December 10, 2014 (edited) I'm not exactly sure how these things work on this particular site, so here is my attempt. First let me explain what this is. This is a new social group that will identify themselves as Cosmere Philosophers. I have been kicking the name around the forum for some time, but no one is kicking it back as positive. The group will be formed of experts on the Cosmere and will focus on the moral ramifications of the actions of characters. If you really like discussing morality, this should be the place for you. We will have no leader, just me as a clerk of sorts and very few restrictions. The only requirement to be able to identify yourself as a member this group is knowledge. You have to have read at least 90% of Sanderson's books. This is the only way to ensure well educated conversation. My advice is to read through the majority of the Wiki page, but that's just a suggestion. Try to put it somewhere on your profile if you are a Cosmere Philosopher. Really, I just want to see people thinking about the morality of the Cosmere. The "what's the point" mentality could solve some debates. Post bellow if you want to join. Mailliw73 he/him Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 This is very interesting. I'd be interested, though I don't know how much I'd have to say. I'll be watching this thread for sure though. 1
RawToast225 he/him Posted December 11, 2014 Author Posted December 11, 2014 Wonderful! Thank you. I'm happy to have you here.
lyht Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 I would love to join. I like thinking about stuff, and have opinions on almost everything. So... do I just follow this topic then?
RawToast225 he/him Posted December 12, 2014 Author Posted December 12, 2014 Yeah, follow this topic. I will set up some sort of thread specific to questions made by the people who want to join and post the link here!
Edgedancer he/him Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 Would the discussion be more from our standpoint or from a in-universe one? For example, would a topic be about (the already talked to death topic of) Jasnah killing the tugs being the right thing to do or wheter or not the action is agreeable with the morality she preaches of all humans being good, when given the chance and what that says about her as a philosopher?
Mailliw73 he/him Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 I would say that we could do either. Arthur, may I suggest that you make one question thread first to get the discussion going? That way, we can get more people involved in actual discussion and it may spark ideas.
gjustice99 she/her Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 I would love to join. I very much enjoyed in universe discussions of morality (mainly in Mistborn) and would greatly enjoy taking part in them.
RawToast225 he/him Posted December 13, 2014 Author Posted December 13, 2014 (edited) Yeah, we can do either type of discussion. The point is to consider as many types of views as possible. I will start a thread, I just haven't had the time to until today. I just wanted to see if people would be interested first. I'll put the link in this post after I create it so that those following it can see it easily. Lightsworn Panda he/him Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 Huh. A Group's that's finally dedicated to something of importance. I probably will participate in the discussions. 1
