What do you think would the best Sanderson book series geared towards a movie or television show?

He explicitly mentioned that shardblades were inspired by some rpg videogames with oddly oversized swords. and the summoning came because otherwise his characters would keep getting stuck on doors.I don't know about the rest.

So, maybe he wasn't influencced by anime, but for sure he was influenced by stuff that was influenced by anime.

Anyway, I'd really, really love to see roshar in a realistic way on a movie with good special effects. or, even better, on an oculus visor.

Annd after watching all that poor adaptation of dragonball (it was so bad it became sort of funny) I don't think I could ever take an anime seriously. Well, league of legends has anime-style graphics and I play it, but I had to keep playing for, like, one year before it stopped bothering me.

So do you dislike cartoons in general then? Or simply the anime style? Either way, I wouldn't mind SA in anime form, I just don't want it to turn into DBZ/Sailor Moon/Naruto/Bleach because those shows have gone on WAY too long, with too many filler episodes that exist for no real reason other than biding time until the original written work caught up. For a live action example I point you to GRRM, where the show is going to pass his books, even with 2 seasons a book for the rest of the books (which will never happen).

I have no real idea on how I feel about cartoons cause I haven''t seen one in twenty years. anyway, it's not really dislike, it's just that i have troubles associating it with something serious. for a parody i would have no problems with it.

So what if the critically acclaimed anime from japan the stormlight archive got made into a live action movie with american actors and an american setting. Like Dragonball Evolution. Maybe kaladin is this guy in high school and dalinar is the principal or something with kaladin being forced to do horrific labour in gym class. eventually szeth who is an assassin from a mob hired by the rich taravangian goes to kill the principal and kaladin protects him. Then aliens known as the voidbringers strike and kaladin and dalinar receive magical powers and fight in a brief war then save earth and kaladin gets the girl of his dreams. Just imagine the horrors of a dragonball evolution version of stormlight after it became an anime? I literally feel sickened and ashamed for writing this by the way.

No reason to feel sick and ashamed. The only thing you missed was the super-mega-fancy-awesome transformation sequence that all the Radiant Students must go through to use their Radiant powers. Personally my fingers are crossed for one similar to Sailor Moon.

In all seriousness, though, Dragonball Evolution pretty much killed most anime's chance of becoming live action, expecially in the States. I do not think we need to worry about this happening to SA. And if an anime were to be made, they would most likely stay relatively true to source material.

It's a shame that many westerners (i.e. not Asian) can't associate cartoons with anything serious. It's not really the individual's fault either. I'm not exactly sure where you're from, but in the U.S. the cartoons that adult's see are all either shows for kids, or comedies like The Simpsons, Family Guy, etc. In Asia though, they are a legitimate source of any genre. And as for taking cartoons seriously, I encourage anyone to watch the following clip from Fate/Zero. It is...horrifying. Also would be rated TV-MA, so please watch responsibly.

And for those worried about spoilers, there are none, unless you don't want to know who Caster is for this Holy Grail War (this scene is where both Caster and Caster's Master are introduced).
