This is something I've been wondering for a while now. How do the names of the Returned get chosen. I don't mean their titles I mean the actual name. Lightsong, Blushweaver, Truthcall. The only one that makes even the tiniest bit of sense is Warbreaker, because if you really think about it, to "break" a war would mean to stop it, thus, bring peace. Lightsong makes the least amount of sense. Who would see the name Lightsong and think of bravery? Apparently whoever is allowed to name the Returned. I think there might be a hint of truth in Lightsong's drunk monkey theory guys.

I believe we have a perfectly valid explanation for this from Lightsong himself:

Our names and titles are assigned randomly by a small monkey who has been fed an exceedingly large amount of gin.

Didn't you read the book?  ;)

I had assumed it had something to do with the eccelsiastical bureaucracy of that god and ultimately chosen by the new god's high priest.

But the monkey staggering on gin is far more amusing.

as my name implies, I am a HUGE supporter of the Drunk Monkey Theory :P

Nice to know there are other believers in that theory  ^_^
