So, in the world of Improv (the rules that pretty much form the foundation of roleplay, as both roleplay and scene-based improv are collaborative games where you act as a character in a fictional world, making things up on the spot), there is a rule called "Yes, And". It means that you should never directly say 'no'. Imagine this, we are doing a roleplay, like, i dunno, battle for the sandwich, and every single time you try and do something, I respond with 'nope, you didn't actually do that, so while you are flailing around helplessly, I steal the sandwich from your useless hands'. That is why Yes, And exists. It makes sure that people are interacting in a collaborative environment, where, sure, you can't go off and say you are god, controller of the universe (there are other rules), but the rules makes it so that everyone has a say in the situation and no one ever feels left out, or like they cannot contribute to the story.
