TheWanderer he/him Posted May 17 Posted May 17 Figured this may be more of a fun conversation starter. Open to any who feel like sharing I ask, what is your favorite thing you've read this year (can go back to 2025 up to now)? Can be just about anything, Comics, Literature, Manga, and anything else I did not think of. I could always use more things to add to my TBR and would love to hear what you've enjoyed most and why. Thanks for commenting advance.
Through the Living Hopper He/Him Posted May 17 Posted May 17 The Three Body Problem I read it late 2025 By far my favorite book series and with my favorite books
KaladinsSenseOfHumourSpren He/Him Posted May 18 Posted May 18 The Founder's Trilogy The last book in it is my favourite non-Cosmere book and my 3rd favourite book overall It's epic fantasy with a hard magic system, and the climaxes, to me at least, feel just like Sanderlanches

Schizoposting Posted May 19 Posted May 19 It's hard to say, because I have read a lot of good books so far in 2026, but I'd say that the Otherland tetralogy was one of the favorite things that I've read this year. It's one of those series that you appreciate the more you think about it.

The magic system is called scriving, and it works in some ways like AonDor and Soulstamping, but also different It has a set of symbols that you can use to alter the reality of something: you can inscribe certain symbols, or sigils as they're called, on an axe to make it preternaturally strong, or be able to cut through wood like water And you can scrive a wheel so that it thinks down is forwards, so you can put a carriage on it and suddenly it doesn't need a horse You can scrive an arrow to think that the direction it is fired in is now down, so that it gains speed after launch, and you can also scrive it to think it's already been falling for several minutes, so it starts very fast too. That's the basic idea; it is a really cool magic system, with near limitless potential. I only wish that the books had illustrations so I could see what some of the sigils were. 1
