Ketek finally reappeared in the vision.

He flipped a coin out of his pocket, which became West.

West limped over to Coil, who was clutching her wrist.

"Coil! You're okay!" He looks at her wrist." Storms, Coil can I see your wrist?"

"West!" Coil cried. "Are you okay? You're limping!" She quickly shows him her wrist, wincing at the movement. "It's fine," she says quickly. "Are you okay?"

Star stares at the two spren, confused. "Do you know what happened?" She asks Ketek.

"I'm fine!" West says hurriedly, trying to hide his limp. He couldn't feel his foot.

"Umm.. No clue." Ketek says.

Coil stares at him disbelievingly, then jumps forward and wraps him in a hug. "Thank you," she whispers. "Without you... who knows what would have happened. I'm sorry I brought you into this... I should have just never said anything..."

"Yeah... All I know is that all of a sudden Coil needed me to summon her. Not sure why though."

West notices that Coil's wrist is burnt.

Shoot! Her wrist is hurt because I burnt it with my hand! She's only hurt because of me! I- it's all my fault!"

He sucks in a breath. "Coil, it's my fault your wrist is hurt. I burnt it and I'm very sorry and I-"

"What?!" Coil says, pulling back. "Of course it's not your fault. You protected me. If anything, it's my fault that you got hurt. I should never had suggested we go on that zipline. I should have known better... I should have done something... I-"

I never should have done anything... it's all my fault...

"I'm not that hurt! It's just a small limp! I'm fine- I shouldn't have grabbed you. I feel like I could've- Oh, who am I kidding? I'm not fine. But Coil, It's not your fault! I- "

Ketek cuts him off. "Coil, could I see your wrist? I think I can help."

Aesthetic asks @Fizz9.

"Any clue why that zip line appeared?

"What are you talking about?! It's my fault..." Coil says, choking back a sob. Silently, she shows her wrist to Ketek. Then, she says to West, "Maybe Star could help with your limp." She doesn't meet West's eyes, instead looking at the ground.

"Yeah!" Star says. "I do know a little bit- come show me it!"

Ketek transfers the burning heat radiating off of Coil's wrist into a small black foam in his other hand.

"There. It should feel a bit numb for a few days, as long as you don't hold anything too hot. Do you want me to wrap it in a gauze, or..."

West drags over to @Through The Living Star and shows her. "I can't feel my foot at all. Is that a problem?"

"Okay..." Coil says. "Thank you. It does feel a bit better now And that would be nice, thank you."

"Yes, that is a problem, West." Star examines the foot. "Wait a second, I think I can tell what the problem is." She leans closer. The foot seems slightly displaced. "It's fractured," Star explains, removing a splint from her satchel. "This is gonna hurt for a second." She quickly straightens it and binds the splint to it with a bandage. "It'll be fine if you try to keep weight off of it for a couple days."

West shakes off the quick pain. "Um. Is the splint/bandage fireproof, because, you know...?" He gestures.

Ketek wraps up Coil's wrist tight." I was only able to do that because of my bond with West."

Posted

Star smiles lightly. "Of course they are. I made sure to check before I put them on. Now then, I'm all done so you can go do whatever you want."

Coil cocks her head. "Really? What else can you do with your bond?"

Posted

Ketek shrugs. "Illusions."

West pokes at the splint and immediately regrets it.

Posted

"Cool." Coil says, then starts towards West. All of a sudden, West pokes the splint Star placed on him and it burst into flames.

"Huh. I guess I checked the bandages but not the splint..."

Ketek grabs the sponge he had absorbed Coil's burn with and puts it on the back of West's foot.

"That'll insulate it pretty well just in case, and Coil's good to go- It was just a 2nd degree burn."

West has a pang of embarrassed guilt at the mention of the burn.

Coil nods gratefully to Ketek, then makes her way towards West. "Are you okay?" she asks him, pointedly avoiding looking at his foot. Before long, she does, and guilt floods her. I'm so sorry West...

"Ah, thank you," Star says to Ketek, smiling. "I'm glad Coil's okay."

"I'm fine. I'm so sorry. Completion wouldnt've done that if he were-" He stops abruptly as he realizes he says this out loud.

Posted

"Completion? Who's Completion?" Coil's eyes narrow, and she stares at West. "What aren't you telling me?"

Posted

"He is-- was my brother." West stammers. I've never had the guts to tell someone that.

"Your brother? What happened to him?" Coil stared at West, who seemed to be very anxious. She grabbed his hand. I don't know what's going on, but I hope I can help.

West sits down on the floor, out of earshot of Ketek, Star, and their other spren.

"H-h-he became a deadeyes" West chokes out.

Texture, Healing-without Medicine, and Aesthetic wonder where all the other Radiants went.

Coil looked at him, taking a seat on the ground next to him. "How?" she said simply, tightening her grip on West's hand.

"I-I don't know-he just appeared one day like it--and-and-and-----" West realizes he's touching Coil's hand. "Wait, Coil, I don't want to hurt you again!"

"I'm so sorry about your brother," Coil says softly. Then, in response to his second statement, she grins and says, "It's okay." She shows him how she wrapped some of Star's fireproof bandages around her hand to keep her from getting burned. "See, West. It's okay."

West's trembling slows. "I never told anyone about it. I just shut it out. I shouldn't have told you. It's my problem to have, not yours."
