"Terribly." She packs up her meager bags, rubbing her eyes.

He nods, not knowing what else to say.

Cool, I’m assuming that’s everyone here (at camp) who is active.

Cor nodded. “Let’s go, then.”

Wit said he had something urgent come up… he’ll see this when he gets back probably, but it might take a while

He nodded slowly.

“Alright.”

They trekked inland, making their way to the center.

If no one wants to interrupt, the next important event is about halfway there.

Spoiler

We’ll be assuming Wit’s following until he comes back

we don’t want it to die in the meantime

Cool!

Far down the road, they found a set of malformed, overly large figures ambling slowly along the path.

Their skin was tinted as if dyed by ink, desaturated but tinted just slightly blue. Additionally, they left bloodied steps as they went on their way.

The figures did not yet notice the party.

——————

Cor frowned, whispering. “What… are they?”

"We should kill them, regardless of what they are."

Cor gave him a side-eye. “Really. That’s… grim.”

Hope grimaces, something in her resonating with those figures "Sorrowsworn."

I have some idea, but all that’s important of that idea is that they have small stone ridges along their body. Rest is up to interpretation.

Cor nods slowly. “I think I… have heard of them, somewhere.”

"They're... miserable creatures. Bloated on their own tears. They feed on feelings of sadness and despair, like ticks. Hard to kill, like ticks too."

He nodded. “I’ll bring a swift end to them, then.”

His hand reached to the plate at his neck, and darkness coursed across his body.

End opened his eyes. “The fool,” in reference to Cor, “is wrong. These specific Sorrowsworn are designed to be difficult for one like me to kill.”

”I embrace the challenge, though.”

"I belive it would be easiest if we tackled them together."

A man on a horse approaches in the distance, riding slowly while he experiments with a small brass instrument. The combination of the instruments quite random and unskilled attempts at a song with the horses occasional unsuccessful attempt to throw the rider on a particularly flatulent note would cause even the most polite person to describe him as “comical”. However, the ridiculous olive green and sunflower yellow plaid cloak that hid most of the riders body from view really tipped his appearance from humorous to deliberately self deprecating. He reaches the camp and looks down at the group. “Hullo. Would any of you know where to find an inn? Or a village? Really any place looking for an exiled Fool,” he said in an incongruously terrifying hissing attempt at a voice. The juxtaposition was unsettling.
