Nitpicking Posted February 1 Posted February 1 Permanent Everstorm. The Shroud. The Ashfall. Alehela's burning sky. Discuss. 1
First of the Tide He/him Posted February 1 Posted February 1 Do you mean Aheleha? I almost brought up the moons on lumar as a counter example, but those are called like warts on your eyeball or smth like that. Ummmm..... I think the sky is pretty well appreciated on Canticle tho. they use it for their sole way of surviving. not destroyed or evil at all. A savior, in fact.

Humorous as this is (and, yes, I'm sure that it's just a joke), I think these have an element of mystique and foreboding. The sky is a natural thing to us. It's beautiful and can bring hope. A clouded, concealed sky could represent to the readers that something bad or otherwise ominous is going on, and that something must change. The Shroud left. The Ashfalls left. The Everstorm will blow over too, and when it does it will represent peace and happiness for us.
Qianweilian He/him Posted February 2 Posted February 2 (edited) Brandon hates book titles too. Mistborn: Gone Stormlight: Gone Warbreaker: Not gone, but not on the planet anymore White Sand: Turns black when used Secret History: Clearly not secret (we can read it) The Eleventh Metal: Malatium not actually #11 The Emperor’s Soul: Gone Quote Questioner At the very end [of the Emperor’s Soul], the Ashravan construct, the simulacrum that’s been made, is convincing. Is it a real boy? Brandon Sanderson So, by cosmere terms, what has happened here is that it is a new individual who has the memories that Shai has put into his head. She has actually constructed something that is using some of the matter and stuff behind (it can access some of the matter). Is it a real boy? It is a construct that has enough Investiture to be self-aware. So it is a person, I would say yes. Is it a real boy? Is Syl a real girl? If you say yes to Syl being a real girl, then yes, it’s a real boy. It’s definitely a person, does that make sense? But is it actually him? No. Not by basically anyone’s definitions. If you go to the religious definitions, they’re gonna be like, “No, that soul passed on.” If you go to the arcanist definitions, they’re gonna be like, “This isn’t quite a Cognitive Shadow, but it’s something analogous to it.” You’ve taken some Investiture that’s become self-aware and can access the memories, ‘cause it’s got… It can actually access memories that she didn’t put in there, because it has access to the brain, that was still functional. But see, it gets a little sticky here. She basically made them a better version, but it also has autonomy. It is a person. Dragonsteel Nexus 2025 (Dec. 5, 2025) The Final Empire: Gone The Well of Ascension: Doesn’t work anymore The Alloy of Law: The alloy doesn’t actually law The Bands of Mourning: Don’t work The Lost Metal: Well, they found it Tress of the Emerald Sea: Sea not made of emeralds Edited February 2 by Qianweilian 6
