How was *that character* in the Cognitive Realm [SH Spoilers]

Sorry if this topic has already been discussed but I can’t find ANY answers.

I just read Secret History and I’m confused about one specific thing: How was Hoid in the cognitive realm between Final Empire and Well of Ascension? Did he go into the CR after he posed as a beggar informant for Kelsier, but before the destruction of the Pits? There was plenty of time to do that but I don’t know why he would. But then in Secret History he’s in the CR trying to get into Preservations Perpendicularity. So what’s up? How did he get there without Ruin’s Perpendicularity? Did he ride the corpse boat, Spanky, all the way from an Expanse to another planet?

I would assume it would be:

Hoid arives on Scadrial, and dismayed that the pits are destroyed, he goes to Kelsier and gets out, becoming a beggar on the streets, becoming well known, and eventually Vin goes around to find him.

Then he travels to the terris mountains.

That doesnt work, because Hoid appears in TFE as an Informant a very much alive Kelsier Talks to.

Soo it must be:

- Hoid is on Scadrial as a Beggar

- Hoid enters the CR probably through the Pits

- Kelsier destroys the Pits

- Kelsier Dies

- Hoid wants to return to Scadrial, notices the Pits are Destroyed takes the way through the Well and meets Kelsier

- Hoid travels to the Terris Mountains

My questions is why would he have left Scadrial to return again so soon? Do we have any idea?

We know he was off-world. Brandon has RAFOed anything else because the inter-series chronology is still in flux. 

One theory (Elantris, M:SH Spoilers):

Is that the events of Elantris were during the time-skip between TFE and WoA - since the Ire in M:SH seem like Reod Elantrians (puckered, wrinkled skin; bald, etc.). He may have been returning from Sel (and Sel's Time Dilation makes all of that extra-tricky)

Consider how little time he spent on Roshar during the SA, from when he appeared as Wit until hacking of his healing powers took him back to Scadrial.

Wit has the (seemingly Fortune-related) ability to know where he needs to go, and I'm assuming Fortune also arranges for him to get there, but less obviously than
