Nitpicking Posted January 11 Posted January 11 So ... at the end of Wind and Truth, Kaladin is both a Fifth Oath Windrunner and also replaces Jezrien as the Herald with Windrunner abilities. Will this affect his abilities? You wouldn't get a resonance, would you, since those are combinations of different Invested Arts/Surges/Metallic Arts/etc. We see Nale (who is also both Herald and Fifth Oath of the Skybreakers) and he doesn't visibly show any abilities that he would need two powersets to have. But surely it should have some effect?

Brandon Sanderson It is possible to get multiples, yes. Words of Radiance Philadelphia signing (March 21, 2014) Quote Ray745 You have stated that each Knights Radiant Order gets their own unique ability, for lack of a better word, due to the combination of their Surges. For instance, you have stated this ability for the Windrunners is strength of squires. My question - is this due to the Nahel bond, or just inherent in the Surges combining. Would a non-Radiant get these abilities from the Honorblades, or would they be out of luck due to no Nahel bond? Brandon Sanderson Good question! The unique abilities have more to do with the powers interacting, same as how Twinborn will often manifest some odd side effects of the powers interacting. But there are limitations. For example, Jezrien didn't actually have any squires, as none of the Heralds did. General Reddit 2016 (Oct. 4, 2016) Quote Questioner Considering that bonding a second spren to belong to another Order is possible but never happened, and taking into account that spren get drawn to an individual through their bond, is it possible for an individual to bond another spren of the same Order? If not, then what's stopping them from the bond that doesn't stop bonding to a different Order? Brandon Sanderson This could happen too, I suppose, but it wouldn't increase their strength in the Order. General Reddit 2020 (Dec. 22, 2020) Coppermind - RoW/WaT Spoilers: Spoiler Twin Bond Shallan has a twin bond, being bonded to two Cryptics instead of one. This allows her to summon Testament and Pattern as individual Shardblades. She chooses to summon Testament as a shield and Pattern as a sword. Shallan is able to pull herself fully into Shadesmar, an ability that should not be possible for someone who does not have the Transportation surge. This is due to her twin bonds pulling her more into Shadesmar than a typical Lightweaver. So, haveing doubled access to a surge can create some extra effects, but does not necessarily increase the strength of a normal surge. Hope that helps 1
