Night 1: Apologize to Ironeyes

<Callsign: Fuchsia Ostrich>

Interim Captain Razor placed the ship under lock down. She confined all non-essential personnel to the Mess. Everything was a mess. The pirates were gaining, the engines were working again, but not at full capacity, and more and more sabotages appeared every hour.

And there was the matter of Jochen. She would deal with that shortly.

She picked up the Medallion she had… requisitioned. It was ostensibly a Mistborn Medallion, but either that was a clerical error, or something had broken when she dropped it. It was only letting her burn Iron at the moment, which was nearly useless to her. Pewter would be nice, Ruin, if she could burn Steel, she'd hunt down the saboteurs herself. She put the Medallion around her neck. Something was better than nothing.

She went down the list. She queried the engineers for status reports on the engines and life support, checked the cameras personally and assigned two people to them at all times. She was going to catch the saboteurs.

The most pressing matters dealt with, she called for that rusting Mouse.

<Callsign: Azure Mouse>

Jochen had already been pacing the mess when the order arrived, intermittently itching beneath his mask, much to the horror of the other southerners on the ship. It was chaos in there, there had practically been a riot before Razor confined them. Jochen held up his tablet to the guard at the door. The man grunted. “You're good, Mouse.”

Jochen glared as he stalked off. Azure Mouse was his official callsign, but he had always hated the name. That was probably what had made it stick. He wasn't a mouse. No matter how much everyone said he twitched.

He stood outside Captain Razor's door. Now her callsign made sense. She was the spitting image of an Ostrich, had fuchsia hair, and it was even the meaning of her name in Old Imperial. But he was getting distracted. He steeled himself and organized his thoughts.

He lifted his hand to knock on the door—”Come in,” Captain Razor said before his hand even touched the door.

The blood drained from Jochen’s face beneath his mask. How long had she been watching him? He opened the door.

“Where's my Medallions?” Her voice was harsh, her face harsher. Jochen winced.

“I, uh, I sent you a briefing,” he fidgeted, avoiding her eyes despite his mask.

“Do you think I have time? The TYRIAN is falling apart and pirates are on our tail. We need those Medallions.” Her glare made Jochen look at his feet.

“The stores were raided. All of the Medallions were taken, presumably by the crew. I must have somehow not locked the stores, the door was unlocked.” Jochen braced himself for further berating, but Razor didn’t speak.

He looked up. Her eyes were wide and her face pale. She quickly masked her expression.

“Very well. I’m tasking you with recovering the Medallions,” she said as if it wasn’t an impossible task.

“You’re what?! I can’t possibly—” she cut him off.

“You will do as ordered or be court martialed. Dismissed.”

<Callsign: Sage Kangaroo>

The mob had cornered Isabel into the airlock. Desperately, they tried to bargain, but the mob wouldn’t listen to their pleas. But then, the mob parted.

“Captain’s orders, captain’s orders,” yelled a squeaky voice.

The quartermaster walked through the momentarily quiet crowd.

“Please, get me out of here,” Isabel pleaded.

“That can be arranged. All I need is the Medallion that you stole,” Jochen stated forcefully. It was the most confident Isabel had ever seen him.

“I didn't—” Isabel began.

“Then I suppose I'll just have to let them deal with you…”

“Alright, alright, just get me out of here,” they pulled out the Medallion.

Jochen motioned for a guard to shove away the ringleader who stood by the airlock controls. He opened the door and let Isabel step out. He took the Medallion from Isabel’s hands, but that was as far as he got. Someone from among the mob punched him through his mask. It had the strength of Pewter behind it.

He looked up just in time to see Isabel ramming a Spike through her eye. He could barely make out her words through the ringing in his ears, but it sounded like she was apologizing to someone named Ironeyes.

Sage Kangaroo was executed. They were a Saboteur Seeker!

Probably a coin flip or smth

Vc says 5 so I wanna confirm is it a tie-breaker vote or something. I just want us to know if it involves vm or not because if it does, the complexion of the EoD actually changes here depending on your analysis of the trains.

WHAT THE HECK

Nah bruv we gotta keep our eyes on the ball and keep pressing on. Good opener, need to make sure we play a solid mid to endgame as well 🫡

Very good D1 result, much stuff to analyse, thank you for calling for the tie, thank you @Oxblood Beagle for the Kanga, IDK how I feel about Axl now and need to go back, will note that I was actually going to and fro on Axl in terms of Axl's response though it was uh, a lot of rando thought vomit into thread in the last hour so I think people scrolled past, I just felt that Axl should be readable in some way from that response and was a bit frustrated with myself I didn't have a strong read on that basis.

...

But holy hell man what a D1 wtf was this even 😂

loll

L

that's hilarious

now that means that we can prolly v/lean Weasel and Dragonfly (if VCs go backwards like that idk) or the first two people who hopped on her train for rn

also, by that logic, theres at least one elim on the countertrain

which is Flamingo, Heron, Dingo and Crocodile

[DISCLAIMER] I have not read through EoD at all so this is likely very flawed and misconceived by my assumptions

im gonna exclude Heron, cuz I really like what they're doing in anaylsis and engaging the game well

so out of {dingo, flamingo, crocodile]

turns out I also like crocodile going back lol

crossing them off for now

so between dingo and flamingo . . .

based on Dingo's playing and their reaction to the flip, I'm going flamingo for rn. Prove me wrong @Onyx Flamingo

Spoiler

also random distro rant

this distro is confusing me more and more

I feel like Jo and TUM are purposely trying to do a weird distro, but elim seeker and no tineyes? kinda weird

I don't like it

lets just pray the MB rolls tineye soon

realizing now just how flawed this anaylsis is

oh well

I might as well publish it and work on reads later lol

EDITED TO ADD:

this is wrong so very wrong

I misread who got exed

proof im really braindead

pls disregard

Levin stood there shocked. He had suspicion of the Kangaroo, who had come across as being opportunistic when she had accused the Dragonfly of being a saboteur, but still, he hadn't expected this outcome. There was a memory that rose to the surface of his mind. The details were murky, but in a past life, he had been an inquisitor and had led innocent men and women to the stake because he thought they had malice in their hearts. He regretted the person that he was and was afraid that his history would catch up to him.

But, now was different. They had found one of the saboteur lurking in this vessel. Today, he felt relief and glee that things had turned out for the better. Certainly, there were statements and actions that could be recollected upon, from which they could find information that might point to the Kangaroo's comrades, but for a moment, Levin would relax and take in the fact that they were one step closer to securing the safety of their lives.

fwiw my assumption for this would be a couple of Mistborn (normal at these sizes.)

there's another world where e.g. elim seeker is itself meant to produce e!fog of war (or just be an outright troll distro though honestly they can do a public claim scam at some point it is tricky but there are some lines that would work, i'd argue ag3 vicinity), or yet another where it provides opportunities for kandra (...wtf) wars

tldr; intuitively weird on the face of it but early game so i don't want to say too much about distro going off just one flip and the lack of PMs atm.

anyway.

Do we feel the Axl train is clean at those sizes btw? I'm trying to work out what we might think wrt comp off these and what Elim disposition would be. There's a certain argument Es tend to really hate EoDs when Villagers are being chaotic and wild and I think it's possible we might be able to read a bit more into the uh, chain of events that unfolded after this.

Well, I certainly wasn't expecting that. But this does clear Dragonfly.

So I was a little busy around rollover. So who are our top suspects?

Chiji blinked. He had not expected the one other person on the ship who also worshipped ironeyes to be a saboteur. "Ironeyes will torment your soul forever traitor." He grumbled, upset that he'd been tricked by them.

Alright I think I'm somewhat recovered from that shock

H.E.A.R.T.H spun in a crazed circle. Inside its head, thoughts raced in a frantic neverending stream. One rose above all others.

They had DONE IT. The impossible had occured; a monster was dead, the loyal crew intact. It was almost too good to be true. But true it was. As true as the memories of fire and blood and war, of a girl and a ravine and a leap- memories? Me-mo-ries?

That was a matter for a different time.

For now, H.E.A.R.T.H exulted. It's wheels screeched as it barreled down corridors at full speed, but it didn't stop. Parts jangled and its arms flailed wildly, but it celebrated in its chaos. Until, at last, it slowed. Coming from inside the mess hall. Sounds of discussion. The place had become the defacto debate chamber, it seemed. Giving itself a second to cool down, H.E.A.R.T.H waited a minute and then pushed open the doors, entering the mostly empty hall. It was massive, yet there were only a couple faces seated in a tight circle. H.E.A.R.T.H wheeled over and joined them.

"I'd actually disagree," H.E.A.R.T.H chimed. "It is not the start of the train that is purest, but its end. Those who held the power in their hands, and chose Death to the monster. While I will have to review the list, I would consider clear only those who voted the Kangaroo in the final minutes of the day - when they knew exactly what they were doing."

Might be compensation with a load of Mistborn.

That'd actually be a really interesting distro.

Fantastic. So basically playa kanga went 1v1 with the Tiebreaker 🤔

The idea there is a version of this game where people randomly come back to life and people randomly die is oddly...terrifying.

anyway ok so:

no vm -

  • 3E world unlikely IMO (probably at least one V in DF and Axl due to thread dynamics after/with DF's claim - would also probably argue DF is V in most worlds with a slight asterisk given the thread control requirement)
  • lack of vm therefore more likely because E!vm weren't online (there's an E/E world where they cbf because Axl and Kanga are both E so have a pref to let it rand, you could argue they would try to VM there to mislead us making us think it's a V/E pair. we can't fully read alignment here, but I'd say minimally Dingo, Gecko, myself, Beagle, and DF not e!vm. bit more obvious in some cases than others, but.)

"Because for most of the cycle they were voting each other, now it doesnt exclude an e/e combo, but I think it makes it less likely." Chiji remarked, explaining as if it was simple. "Ironeyes have me if they're both saboteur."

I'm inclined to lean a very wary and weak V on Weasel for their analysis btw:

13 hours ago, Indigo Weasel said:

This, makes sense. And implies a V!lean Meerkat, so I’m willing to let slide the E!lean from his earlier post.
For Octopus as well, there’s some reasoning.
I think Sage Kangaroo because while the timing is very weird with all three, Octopus has actual reasoning, and Meerkat calls out Kangaroo on it their lack of reasoning. While it is possible that all three are elims, and Meerkat was trying to make the situation less suspicious, in both cases Kangaroo is Elim and should be voted out. So it’s a fairly safe bet.

(I did not mention it in thread, but Weasel's case analysis did persuade me that I might not have been tripping in my Kanga suspicions/wariness.)

This is actually why I slightly trusted Weasel to SAN check me about how everyone was responding to the DF claim.

Also Weasel's vote created this votestate:

Weasel increased the Kanga train. In a V!DF world, Weasel can go on DF, or presumably on Ele or Meerkat (assuming at least one V in them.) In an Axl/DF V/V world, Weasel likely goes onto another V train because this just brings Kanga into contention with time in the cycle and two top trains/possible VM.

It's weak because I respect Weasel's play. Sorry Weasel, it happens 😛

H.E.A.R.T.H nodded along. That reasoning made sense. It did, however, raise a question.

I'm curious too. I recall someone dropping a late EoD on them, and in particular @Ivory Dragonfly felt Ig sus I think? DF, any chance you can maybe re-explain it again? IDK if you need more substantive posts for it.

(DO NOT RECOMMEND READING THIS THIS IS JUST REFERENCE FOR ANYONE WHO WANTS TO PUZZLE THROUGH THIS BECAUSE I DON'T GET IT.)

Given the post DF is referencing, I...think DF is maybe accusing Ig of claiming E!something? E!Kandra? IDK, I am struggling with the post in question. I don't really understand the thought process (would probably not recommend breaking too much brain on it compared to looking at the votes.)

Well, I was about to say that it was odd Dragonfly was leaving random poke votes when they are in the lead, but that's been resolved now. My vote on Sage Kanga has outlived its pokiness. In general I find Axolotl a more compelling option than Dragonfly, but I'm also interested in the Dragonfly voters. In particular, Scarlet Octo hasn't really given much more past their original vote, despite things changing a bit since then. Seems like a "I found an easy vote so I'll just sit on it" kinda attitude. Not that I'm one to talk, but what can you do.
