Usseewa ✾ She♡Her ✾ Posted January 3 Posted January 3 (edited) How come some posts are made by guests? Does this mean they are users who have deleted their account? If so, the following may be a bug/issue (in the screenshot and the actual linked forum, this guest user has a username in the Last Edited By). I assume admins/mods can edit posts, otherwise I don't see the use in displaying the username there. So, if that was the user's username, is that an issue? Should it say "guest" or something instead? Or, that username could be an admin/mod lol. Spoiler Edit: when a regular user edits a post and then changes their username, it will display "last edited by <old name/name when it was edited>" maybe this could be changed to use user IDs instead since it seems like it either isn't or is using a combo of user id, date edited, and previous usernames (if this was unintentional)? Edit 2: Similarly (in reference to the content above the first edit), a quote of a now-guest shows the original username, not the word "guest" (e.g., "on 1/1/1970 at 12:00am, OriginalUsernameNoteGuest said:") Example: Spoiler Edited January 3 by Theory Title.
Chaos he/him Posted January 4 Posted January 4 This is not an issue. That happens when an admin deletes an account. It is one of the many ways that can appear as. Often, I will delete an account and preserve the username, so it will keep that (but it just won't be a link to a profile, since that profile will not exist), but there are times where I nuke the entire thing. I'm not going to adjust every quote thing, obviously, so I'm just doing the default function the site allows. 2

The code could probably be updated to make this automatic/a checkbox like "Update quotes?" 8 hours ago, Chaos said: Often, I will delete an account and preserve the username, so it will keep that (but it just won't be a link to a profile, since that profile will not exist), but there are times where I nuke the entire thing. I suppose I was thinking of the privacy aspect, since without "nuking" the profile, it still shows their old username in various places.

We are at behest of the Invision Power Suite platform and its functionality. Adding custom code will make updates take even longer and we are not really going to do that, sorry. It is what it is and I'm not going to stress about it. 1
Hoid Slayer He/Him Posted January 5 Posted January 5 Wait, so just to clarify: Posts labeled as "Guest User" are posts by deleted accounts? Or am I understanding something wrong?
