Wind and Truth spoilers!!!

So I was talking to @TheFlatScadrianand we talked about how Lightweavers can affect more than visible light.

 The conversation is in this:

What’d yall think? Because I want to see a Lightweaver walk out of a nuclear reactor explosion perfectly fine.

I’ve had an idea.

Lightweavers could X-Ray people, right? So if you got a surgeon on a battlefield who needs immediate visual on an injury, you just need a plate and a Lightweaver.

Sure, X-Rays are dangerous, but it’s completely viable short-term.

what about caramel?

I’ve never made caramel with a microwave, but it probably could work, same with anything you could cook, so… they could probably make pies.

Also, like, just replace MRI’s anything we can do with it, they can do better with a lot more versatility

if they can simulate touch as well, (Shallan's army in OB) and taste is kind of just a subset of touch, couldn't a lightweaver give you popcorn that you eat, but disappears as it enters your stomach? (INFINITE BINGE SNACKING???)

INFINITE BINGE SNACKING???

Rehab centers for fake-food addictions should be canon.

And how do they simulate touch? Like… with air waves?

The advertising for that would be hilarious.
“Lightweaver’s popcorn - It’s not really there”

If they were to x-ray someone, would they be able to see it when it bounces back? I don't think they could.

The microwaving thing should still work though.

Spoiler

Castweaving. They can make illusions physical by soulcasting them into existence sorta.

You could make a killing selling fake snack food to people attempting to lose weight.

or fake alcohol. Or fake cigarettes. Or fake… any addiction, really.

Fake Firemoss!

You’d still need the sensory equipment for it, but making x-ray goggles is a lot easier than hauling around an mri/x-ray machine

Edit: Also, sorry @TheFlatScadrian every time I post, you always get there slightly ahead of me, so I’m unable to quote you without double posting.

Taste might be a problem, I’m not sure how to do that without actually soulcasting, which is what we’re trying to avoid.

Why are we avoiding soulcasting? It wouldn't be that hard to soulcast a flavor into the air, given that flesh is one of the basic soulcasting substances.

No worries, man.

could you perhaps stimulate taste sensory organs with air movements?

I feel like if we did that it’d be basically just perfume.

Edit: there’s nothing wrong with perfume, but eating it? Also, I’m trying to see what crazy things you can do with lightweaving, and while soulcasting is nice, this wouldn’t nearly as cool as using light weaving. We could always just soulcasting air into chips, assuming we understand chips at a molecular level

Actually, yeah, that’s fair

...Giant lightwoven space lasers. Gamma radiation. Invisibility? Turning the lights on/off in a weird way.

I didn’t think of Lasers… but that makes a Lightweaver in Shardplate probably one of the most dangerous space fighters. Get a Skybreakers/windrunner to move them around and you have. Two-person manuverable menace to space-ship society

That would be terrifying. For everyone involved.
You could seriously destroy computers that way, in space. Wreck life support or propulsion systems.

What about Aondor? Could lightweaving mess with Aon tech?

It could destroy whatever the Aon is carved on, and if it’s on the air, you could either laser the person making the Aon or you could Lightweave it so that their Aon looks 2 inches to the left from where it actually is midway through the drawing, so their Aon either fizzles or has unintended consequences

Converting Investiture to electricity through solar panels.

Giving people a tan.

Disrupting radio signals.

Potentially sending radio signals, if you're adept enough? which could then be converted to sound so basically a microphone/ham radio.

Radar, though it wouldn't really be all that useful cause you'd still have to have the tech to see it bounce back.

Powering a light sail...

Holograms (they already do this with the map of Roshar at Urithiru).

Messing with things that use IR receivers...
