Habakkuk 2:1

I will stand my watch And set myself on the rampart, And watch to see what He will say to me, And what I will answer when I am corrected.

Watchers at the rim

We are never those

Who seek glory, fame or wealth.

Nor the ones who charge

For our services and help.

We are honor bound to face the din.

We are the watchers at the rim.

We walk through darkness

To keep you free from fear and dread

So you'll be safe and sound

While you're sleeping in your bed.

We go where no one else dare tread.

We keep the weak safe from monstrous sin

We are the watchers at the rim.

No prize is offered,

Little remembrance of our dead.

Just a million tons of guilt

For every ounce of lead.

Side by side through thick and thin

We are the watchers at the rim.

Facing scorn, slander, hatred and disdain

Seeking justice for the victims,

For the survivors, and the slain.

We will always acquit ourselves as men.

We will always be there again and again.

For you we risk our life and limb

We are the watchers at the rim.

Psalm127:1b

Unless the LORD guards the city,

The watchman stays awake in vain.

love it! is it supposed to be used for anything particular? I saw this post a while ago and have been struggling on what to say. My only qualm is the lack of true rhymes for rim. you rhymed -in with -im like 3 times, and only rhymed -im with -im once (limb). Would love to see anything else you make

I get stuck in a rut sometimes, especially when writing at 3am lol. Thanks for the feedback.
