tylerboom Posted October 26, 2025 Posted October 26, 2025 If Nightblood were to cut one of the Evil how would it go? They are both heavily invested entities that consume all the investiture they touch. I think that there are definitely some intentional similarities between the two of them. A different kinda unrelated theory but could the reason why the reason why both The Evil and Nightblood have similar attributes be because of some cognitive idea of Evil? Like there is some sort of association of specifically consuming massive amounts of investiture and evil that could have effected both the intent of Nightblood's command and how mental stuff affects The Evil? (This might very much be a stretch)
alder24 Posted October 27, 2025 Posted October 27, 2025 This should be posted in the IotE spoiler zone, I'll ask mods to move if. Nightblood holds investiture, the Evil is made entirely out of anti-investiture, I'm guessing if they were to ever touch, they would be annihilated explosively, as Nightblood's investiture is stuffed under immense pressure. It wouldn't end well for either of them. The Evil doesn't consume investiture like Nightblood does. Because it's made out of anti-investiture it annihilates it, turning investiture into pure energy (just like what happened in RoW). Nightblood and the Evil seem to be unrelated. In fact Leechers and Larkins behave in the same way as Nightblood, they all drain investiture - they are more related than the Evil and Nightblood are. Quote Questioner If you were a Leecher, could you destroy a Shardblade? Brandon Sanderson I'm going to RAFO that for now, let's just say that it would be incredibly difficult if it were possible, and I'm not going to even say if it is. But that kind of power... Questioner Let's just say they were burning duralumin as well. Brandon Sanderson Let's just say that the Investiture in a Shardblade is much greater than your average Allomancer, but... This type of thing is not unheard of in the Cosmere. The larkin, the Leechers, and Nightblood all have a similar sort of thing going on. Destroying a Shardblade would be really hard. And Investiture resists other forms of Investiture, so. Calamity Austin signing (Feb. 25, 2016)
