Hello.
Misborn Era 1 + 2 Fanatic, fascinated with the lore, enjoys making theories that make the professionals want to curl up into a ball and cry >:)
Currently praying for spook showing up in Era 3
Semi-proficient in realmatic theory.
I read too quickly while somehow retaining information.
I just realised this is beginning to look like a Resume, so I'm going to break the ice a bit.

Welcome!

Do you have plans to read the rest of the Cosmere?

Who's your favourite Mistborn character?

YES, I do want to read the rest of the cosmere (though stil working out where to go from here)
Favorite Mistborn character is probably either Marsh or Hoid.

Also, I checked your activity, and you're like only on when the United States is asleep, which is reasonable if you're on a timezone similar to mine. But yeah, the Shard is far more noisy when the US is up.

So I'm not going to ask you anymore questions, and just wait for everyone else. They should be here in roughly 5 or so hours.

You're observant! Respect man.
I'll try to be there when the US has woken up, but I might be asleep at that time.

There are many easily searched Reading Order Threads (linked one notes which books have spoilers for other books to enable readers to make informed decisions based on personal preferences). I would recommend completing the basics - From my other post:

This is what I generally tell people at work - start with these in any order that appeals to you:
- 2 stand-alone Books, 1 Series, 1 Novella
- presened in publishing order, not meant to be indicitive of a suggested reading order

  • Elantris - It's a stand-alone (for now - 1 Short Story and one tangentially related Novella - see below) and was the first published. Start here if you really like political intrigue books and a cerebral atmosphere. Less action than Mistborn or Warbreaker, until the end. The Magic is broken, so solving that is also a major story arc (but also means you don't get to see it work much)
  • Mistborn Trilogy (Book 1 Mistborn: The Final Empire / Era 1) - It's a Trilogy (so more initial time investment) but it is packed with action, great magic, great (dystopian) worldbuilding. Some political intrigue - can be a lot to take in at once for some readers. Magic is strong and action packed, explained at a deliberate pace to not overwhelm with too much up-front worldbuilding.
  • Warbreaker - Stand-alone (for now - no short stories). About mid-way between the the first two in both action and politics. The world is specifically meant to contrast to Mistborn's setting (so I recommend reading this either right before or right after Mistborn) and introduces many important things for shared universe (Cosmere). Magic displayed strongly early with less explanation, then slowly explains the why and how - but is present throughout.
  • The Emperor's Soul - Like Elantris this has politics at the forefront (the seedier side of politics) but really focuses on how the author builds magic systems and explains some fundamentals that will be a part of all Cosmere works. Most action is at the end, but, well, it won the Hugo for a reason and is one of Brandon's best works (no caveat needed).

Note: Book Acronyms may be found here (third spoiler tag) if you are unfamiliar with them.

Hope that helps

Yes, I like wayne (and his hats).
Yes, I like dragons (Huzzah for frost)
As for magic systems, within the cosmere it has gotta be Allomancy and Hemalurgy.
As for just in general, for all fiction... I mean i dont think you can beat BS's skill in this, so still Allomancy and Hemalurgy.

That's fair. Hemalurgy is pretty awesome. (NOT AS COOL AS FERUCHEMY). And so is allomancy. (BECAUSE OF COMPOUNDING).

I mainly like Hemalurgy because, well, I think its a bit unorthodox. Like, Feruchemy and Allomancy are manifestations of Invesutre, but i more invlovles drawing power from the investiture (or storing it)
Hemalurgy is literally using the investitute to steal parts of someone's spiritweb. Its parasitic.
Also, I think it makes you look really awesome. Like, when you see a regular allomancer you think "OOOOOOOH ****"
But you see an INQUISITOR, or anything living with SPIKES in their eyes, your wetting yourself.
