AonEne he/him Posted April 17, 2025 Posted April 17, 2025 Hello all! We're making this post to make it clear that the pronouns field on your profile is intended for serious use, and not as a second member title space. If you want to give yourself a title, share your status, or have some small saying displayed on your posts, the place for those is in your member title or signature, not in the pronouns section. Why is this? Because we want pronouns to be easy to distinguish, and it's a separate field for a reason. This isn't to say stop having fun and putting silly things on your profile - but there are multiple other spaces to do that, and this one has a specific purpose. Especially with a few people using neopronouns or rarer pronouns, we want it to be clear what is the way someone wants to be referred to, and what's just for fun. I encourage people to remove extraneous words or titles that don't have to do with gender or to put them elsewhere on your profiles. Mods may edit your profile and remove them for you in the future if you do not do so. 12

AonEne's pronoun section is exacty that information. Perhaps you do not realize "enby" is a voiced acronym for NB meaning Non-Binary? So, "he/him in an enby way" is an entirely serious answer the the question of what Pronouns AonEne prefers (even if using slang contraction to make the data fit on a single line). Otherwise, please clarify what your question might be or to which profile field you are referring.
al_lan_mandragoran Posted July 3, 2025 Posted July 3, 2025 Ah my bad I'm terrible at understanding acronyms. No offence intended.

I do the same thing, I was born in Utah in a highly religious area, so I don't know much about lgbtq+ or anything like that. You are always forgiven for your mistakes

And how will moderators decide what counts as “extraneous” versus a legitimate pronoun entry? I can understand the concern, but in our experience, it is usually pretty easy to discern. I think the easiest test is to see: can these linguistically be used as pronouns? A lot of times on the forums this field was used just as a joke, like the Member title field. That's what this rule is designed to discourage. We don't want pronoun fields like "Not/as/short/as/you". It's pretty clear that that's a joke. There are people who refuse to use a pronoun field, and will just put unrelated words (none of which are pronouns), sometimes mentioning their political or religious affiliations. People are perfectly entitled to said affiliations, but they are not pronouns, and it's clear people who do this are simply doing this out of some anti-woke sentiment. (Despite the fact that over text like this, knowing someone's pronouns is extremely useful and practical, as you have literally nothing else to go on.) So I would say this rule is designed to remove obvious jokes and also bad faith actors. Certainly people can use unusual pronouns or neopronouns that are not something an average individual on the street would recognize, and that's fine. I would say we would err more on the side of caution than not, but all the ones we have removed have been very clearly not pronouns. (Edit to add in: should have you any specific concerns in this regard, PM me, Ene, or anyone else, and we are more than happy to listen.) Everyone else in this thread: there is no need to meme here, please, thank you. This is a serious topic in a serious board, and you can save that for other areas of the site, like the RP areas. I have removed several off topic comments. Edited December 24, 2025 by Chaos 4
