SO

Each citizen under Verity takes a Vow - they can be anything, but the great majority for the warriors is the Vow of Cleansing “I will cleanse falsehood”

There is also the Vow of Servitude, preferred for civilian population - “I will serve Verity (Or smt similar - I had better wording b4)

Less used is the Vow of Strife, which is not as respected - “I will strive for a fullness in truth.”

Prologue - not sure.

Not sure about the tech level - I was thinking like, medieval knight weapons for Verity, then Verity would carry them over - actually, I should worldbuild that.

It was an especially sad night for Panda. Well, all nights are sad for him. And… erm… these sorts of attempts are always sad, aren’t they. Panda, having an especially crazy name for an especially crazy person, had heard that there was a way to do what he wanted to do with… a chance of failure. Even though these sorts of people pretended they wanted to succeed, they don't. They want someone, or something, to stop them. You would be surprised how many Shifters come to be because of, um… these sorts of things. He decided to go to the Tornade-o. It’s a very popular bar in Shiftatia. It serves sweet lemonade (The kind from mimics), and is the only bar on this side that serves Lamonade.

“I want a cup,” Panda says to a bartender.

“Of what?” The bartender asks, sounding bored.

“I want a cup of Lamonade!” Panda says urgently.

“Really? What is this, an attempt at sui…” The bartender trails of as they see the look in his eyes, “Okay okay. Fine. Coming right up.”

“Now, now. Where are you from?” A stranger asks next to Panda.

“Why? Who are you?” Panda replies.

“My name is Tor. I am a recruiter from the shifters in Fellcastia. I usually have to get the people to drink Lamonade, not just watch them do it. So, where are you from?” Tor asks again.

“Yes, well, it’s basically a death sentence. At least, I hope so.” Panda says in return, “I’m from Nalthis, apparently. I don’t remember anything there, but I have a Breath, so I must be from there.”

“Well, I hope you survive. If you do, I sincerely hope you join corruption back at Fellcastia. We offer 1 year of training before you have to commit. That’s a guarantee that you will get a minimum of 4 of the shifting abilities before you leave. Almost everyone gets 5. We can’t promise perfection! That’s only available if you commit!”

That sounded like a speech meant for widespread usage. “Fine. IF I live, I will go to Fellcastia for 1 year. No more.”

Before Tor could reply, the bartender came back with the lemonade. “Bottoms up!” Tor says, grinning.

Before he could stop himself, Panda drank the entire thing. As he was drinking it, he felt regret. He thought, maybe it’s not my time to die. Maybe those thoughts were why what happened next happened. Maybe they weren’t. Who’s to say? Maybe it was pure luck. Panda most certainly was not expecting it.

“Was something supposed to happen?” Panda asked, after drinking the whole thing. He looked around at everyone staring at him in shock. The label on his glass did say Lamonade.

On that day, Panda proved that Lamonade, at first drink, brings people up to a certain level of insanity. It doesn’t multiply it. In fact, a few said that he seemed remarkably more sane. After the effects of the Lamonade wore off, he joined Fellcastia for exactly a year.

Panda's Prologue:

Did the other part of my plan work? A strange beep rang on the table next to him. [ALERT ALERT: AN UNSTABLE SHIFTER HAS BLOWN UP A TOWN. SURVIVORS WITH A STRANGE DISEASE.]. So, spliting atoms did make an explosion. He was glad that part worked. He was getting closer and closer to his goal every day. Soon, he will finally be able to help... Nevermind. He only needed to execute his plan, not think on the reason behind it. He must learn more about shifting. He must. It is that or... Go back to trying to do what happened when he became a shifter.

I think the tech level should be like... everyone has magic messaging systems to get alerts and stuff.

Basic Info (Personality, MoIs, Alignment, other important info): Verity-Invested, very stronk, ya know? Just as fanatical about Verity’s cause, but often pursues it through different, more discreet means. Was the first to swear the Vow of Strife.

Introductory Story (Not required, helpful):

Fel looked down at the small slip of paper in his hands - it was the Vow of Cleansing.

There were just three others in training - much less than the twelve that had enlisted. He had gotten lucky, he thought, with the Arbiter who had trained him. Many of the others, Fel heard, were often cruel; he knew, however, that his own master had a slightly… sadistic… side.

He fingered scar over his broken eye, feeling lost in that area. His master had not allowed him to cover it, claiming that disguising wounds in this manner was deception.

His master had been painfully clear with this.

He stepped up in front of the crowd, receiving the mark of Arbitration from the elder, placing it on the heavy cloak given him by Verity, looking down at the slip, and crumpling it.

Memories of flame flashed before his eyes, watching his family burn in their home, his home.

He would not be like the others, that he knew.

Dropping the slip, he muttered words from the depths of his mind, then stated them more firmly.

”I will strive for fullness of truth.”
