Sythrin Posted April 1, 2025 Posted April 1, 2025 A couple of months ago I made a post to discuss possible impressions that people get when they get the possibility of witnessing a Shard. We got some of these already. Odium was described as the screams of a thousand warrios, the greatest ecstazy of a thousand kisses and the unending hatred like the burning sun. Preservation was described as the untouched stone that stands through the ages or the deep depths of the ocean that never seem to change or be touched by the light. Riun was described as the withering wind that makes everything crumble over time. Time incernated to rip darkness itself apart. In WaT I believe where mentioned how Honor and Cultivation looked but I cannot remember or find the passage. In case not, my proposal for Honor would be: It sounds like steel and iron, that bends but never breaks. When swords clashes in an honorable duel or when chains are put one losers of a battle. The weight of a crown a king has to wear. The feeling of a promise fullfilled and the comradory of your sword brothers when you fight in battle. Cultivation is a bit easier to imagine. Lucious forests that grow far and wide. The foodchain of a bird eating seats than being hunted by a fox and lastly the foxs dying of an infected wound. It can be the farmers crops that he uses to feed his family which than grows bigger. But I could imagine that Cultivation stands for more abstract terms as well. Like a a lord growing his wealth or a person training to become the best academic there is, though the last one could be Autonomy as well. I like to make the intents/impressions to be ambigious. For one having a human element but as well a natural element. Being nether straight out bad or good. What do you think could be the others? Some ideas that I have: Autonomy could be the feeling of loneliness and isolation but as well the pride of being at the top. To have something accomplished through your means against the odds. It can be the crushing sounds of a silent forest, that is than penetrated by a twig breaking. Silent by its nature, if it would happen in the city, but penetrating and taking the focus of all forest creatures. Devotion would be most akin to love. The love for a father and mother for their children. The love for a lover. But as well the love for your believs and maybe god. So strong that it blinds one and makes one loyal and devoted to the core. The rage and feeling of justifaction for the cruelty you inflict on others in the name of your love. It could be the axions that with all their might strive against being seperated. While Honor binds things, its devotion that holds them together. 3
