He waited for the train.

He saw this and tried to break the glass.

There was a small section of raised stone on the side.

“No clue. But it’s not safe here.”

Her forehead creased. “If you say so.”

She got out of the pod, looking around uncertainly.

Ian felt like he was imposing.

Still, it was incredibly annoying to not know what was happening.

Indeed.

The train did indeed come.

Lee had joined their merry party of wanderers.

Aela didn't particularly care.

“Alright, this should take us to the fields. There’s buildings to get out of the sun and the cornstalks are good hiding spots.”

She nodded and headed towards the train.

Cye got on behind her and Lissy. Lissy leaned into Aela. She’d almost lost her; this had been too close.

Aela hugged her tightly. She felt the same.

She sat next to Aela, but leaned over and placed her head against Aela’s chest. Cye sat across the aisle from them, him with the aisle seat and putting the unconscious woman in the window seat.

Aela kissed her head softly and started to fall asleep.

Lissy didn’t. Last time she’d slept, she was kidnapped. She was soothed, however, by Aela’s steady breathing.

WAIT WAIT WAIT

BEFORE YALL GO

At the door, one of the pods caught their eyes - it seemed that the victim was very very recent.

It was Lee.

Lee had joined their merry party of wanderers.

Ian felt lonely, but that was normal. He took a seat behind everyone and pulled out a set of dice after some furtive glances to ensure nobody was looking.

Aela was just exhausted.

She fell asleep a couple minutes later.

Cye turned to Lissy. “So, um.. what were you guys doing there?”

She hesitated. “Someone- took us.”

”Oh. Sorry about that. You’re okay?”

She nodded. “Why were you there?”

”This lady-“ he pointed a thumb at the woman “-was talking to me in the street. I wasn’t interested, but she didn’t learn me alone, so I followed. After seeing what happened, I’m glad I was there”.

Ian hid the dice in his hands. “So we did leave the library? Why?”

“Can’t help you there,” Cye said. “What happened before the cages that you remember?”

He frowned. “Cages? What cages?”

You were in cages when Cye showed up.

“What happened before you were in that place?”

”We ate something,” Lissy said quietly. “It made us sleep.”
