Ashwan and seraphina sprint towards the noise.

That was really loud, Ian thought, and went to check out the source.

They exit the room to emerge into a hallway, where a cloaked and masked figure approached them.

Ashwan draws his sword. It glowed a faint teal. "Who are you"

Seraphina eeked and hid behind the corner.

It did not, in fact, glow any blue. (Sorry - BUT I TOLD YOU NO MAGIC PORTS OVER)

It didn’t randomly break or anything, though.

The figure reached to a flat disk on their shoulder, and a thick fog rolled off the figure, filling the room. “You mean you don’t recognize the Sparks?”

Light flooded through the fog from the figure, who unsheathed a sword.

Chester had lost the plot a few pages ago.

Chester was resting in the inn they had stopped at, and then there was explosion.

(YOU DID? Um… I hereby Ember-chant that sword to be really freaking sharp [imma be giving other people ember-chantments])

The figure snorts, then dashes towards you, raising their swordy-sword.

(This sword the Spark is using is slightly emberchanted, so it’s gonna take a few hits to cut it)

This is successful, and the figure, jumps backwards, obviously expecting your sword to break.

Ashwan immediately sprints forward and tries to strike him.

They block, and swipes a disc on their collarbone, appearing behind Ashawn.

He drops to the ground and rolls.

Cye held Lissy and Aela (@somebοdy) close. Lissy held Aela's hand and wrapped her other arm around Cye. She tightly gripped the bottom of his shirt. He had uncovered her mouth, trusting her to be quiet.

Cye kept his gaze on her, learning what he could about her without speaking. She was short and skinny- likely underfed - and seemed desperate to keep her friend close to her. From the way she gripped the other girl's hand, he could tell she was scared of losing her.

Cye squeezed the girl - he still didn't know her name - slightly tighter. He didn't want to speak and alert the one whose steps they had heard to where they were hiding. But he hoped it would convey protection.

The girl looked up at him warily. She didn't know him; she probably didn't trust him. That was fine. He leaned foreword and put his forehead on hers in what he hoped was a comforting gesture.

It seemed to work. Still quietly crying, she leaned deeper into him and laid her head against his chest. She'd made the decision to trust him with her safety. He would do everything he could to honor that trust.

The air above his is sliced through by the blade, and the figure growls softly. “Stay still!”

He swipes again with his sword.

He pushes off the ground and barrel rolls over the blade. (Did i mention he's a fighting prodigy?) He lands and spin swipes at the dude.

Cye tapped Lissy's back, and she looked at him. He pointed under the bed; Lissy understood, and she moved under the bed to hide. Once she was down there, he put Aela next to her under the bed. Lissy grabbed her hand tightly. After checking to see if it was safe, Cye went around the bed and went on the other side of Lissy. He could feel her trembling next to him. He took her other hand and squeezed it a little. Her eyes closed and she swallowed.

"Where are we?" she whispered.

Oh ok

"We-" she swallowed and restarted her whisper. "We're hiding under a bed. At an inn."

The boy who'd released them from the cages was on the other side of Lissy.
