Guinea Pig Intros!

Tommy

Birthday: Summer 2021
Gotcha Day: January 3rd, 2022
Nicknames: Stupid baby man, Silly boy, The lad, Toms, and Thomas the Tank Engine
How did I end up with him?
I (kind of stupidly) wanted a third male, knowing the odds of it working out weren't in my favor. I wanted to get a young male the same age of my boys but he got adopted before I could get him. That's how I ended up with Tommy. He's one of the best things that've happened to me. I got him from a shelter in my state.
Misc: We highly suspect he was from a hoarding situation, he was not only surrendered with 26(!!!) other guinea pigs, but his behavior reflects it as well (he will eat fast, doesn't like other pigs in his space so he lives alone, etc)

He LOVES humans. Burrowing in shirts is one of his favorite things. Along with eating hay and taking naps in nests he makes out of hay. His favorite type of lettuce is red leaf. He can only have green bell pepper and different kinds of lettuces or he gets bloated. Tommy has a really fast metabolism and eats a ton of hay.

He also weighs about 1 kilogram precisely. He used to be really small for a boar but he's average now.

26 other pigs, not 23 (which is even more insane)

I'm tired and slightly jetlagged so I'll post Mars and Jupiter tomorrow along with some various fosters and such.

Mars

Birthday: November 14th, 2021
Gotcha Day: November 16th, 2021 (officially adopted around December)
Nicknames: Marsy, Mars Bar, Mars the Bar Biter, and Marzipan
How did I end up with him?
My mom was told, by the rescue that I had already fostered for, that there were pigs that they needed me to take in. Two sows (female guinea pigs) were adopted and one turned out to be pregnant. She gave birth but her family wasn't able to take care of 5 pigs so I temporarily took her in (with her babies) until they were weaned and she went back to her adoptive family and sister. The mom is named Parsley for refrence. She had three babies, two boars and one sow. The boys are Mars and Jupiter (both of which I adopted) and the girl is Pluto. At this point I had no guinea pigs of my own and I decided whatever the same sex pair was, I was going to adopt. The pair was Mars and Jupiter.
Misc: He's not exactly the smartest, EXCEPT when it comes to evading capture (to be weighed, for nail trims, vet visits, etc). Suddenly, all of his brain cells work wonderfully and he's a genius. He takes so long to grab because he knows the spots where it's the easiest for me to grab him and avoids them. For reference, it took him months to learn how to stand up on his hind legs (like a t-rex) while his brother learned much faster. He also did leap out of my arms and fall 4ft as a baby so that might be why... (kidding, though he did actually fall. That's before I acquired the instinct of catching leaping pigs. I still feel bad. He was also totally fine.)

He used to be a picky eater until he got fat and out vet told us to give him and his brother half the normal amount of pellets (1/8th cup instead of 1/4th cup in total). His favorite food is probably hay. He hasn't had fruit in a while, but pre-diet he didn't like most fruits. So his brother would eat them.

At the vet he is known to be dramatic and try to jump off of the table. He has done this every time as far as I can remember. He's also a menace to his brother and constantly annoys him.

I'll send Jupiter tomorrow!

Jupiter

Birthday: November 14th, 2021
Gotcha Day: November 16th, 2021 (officially adopted around December)
Nicknames: Jupe, Jupey Poopy, and Jupes (Might add Iove/Jove to that at some point, though it's usually the other way around*)

Misc: Jupiter is an average guinea pig. Though he was born with an extra toe that got amputated when he was about a week old. He screamed the entire appointment, even when nothing was happening. Nowadays he's pretty chill, he's the best behaved for nail trimmings. When I first saw him, the owners of the rescue he's from were holding his brother and sister while he was all alone with his mom. I picked him up and immediately bonded with him.

He is more outgoing than Mars and will be the first to check anything out. Mars follows behind. They have a bunkbed and he prefers the bottom bunk, while Mars likes the top. He eats everything (except for zucchini), including what Mars doesn't eat (see above). He's also (usually) the dominant one between the two of them and also usually weighs roughly 20 grams more than his brother.

Jupe doesn't enjoy being picked up but once he's with me he enjoys snuggling and being brushed. Both him and his brother have really soft fur, softer than a normal american short hair. Because of this, I suspect his dad has long(ish) hair and there is silkie/sheltie ancestry somewhere in him.

I don't know if he has a favorite food, maybe his pellets. He just likes food in general.

Overall, he's pretty well behaved and just your average boar.

*I take latin and I will sometimes refer to the roman god Jupiter as Jupe out of habit. So it would be funny if I referred to Jupe as Jove (which is how Jupiter the god is referred to as sometimes). Also he was named after the planet, not the god.
