CoderDrag0n8 He/They Posted March 5, 2025 Posted March 5, 2025 Zinc and Brass constitute as 'Emotional Allomancy' Right? So therefore, 'Mind Controlling' Hemalurgic Constructs (Like inquisitors) Would be emotional allomancy (For allomancers no one knows how shards work). When a Smoker is burning copper, they are immune to 'Emotional Allomancy'. THE ULTIMATE STRAT would be getting a smoker's powers before getting any other spikes. 1

Not quite, since Modern Soothers and Rioters lack the strength to control a Koloss on their own, never mind someone with a coppercloud. Its why Vin needed to use Duralumin to have the power to do it, and a Duralumin-Soothing/Rioting can pierce through weaker copperclouds just like a Duralumin-Seeker can. And once they have control over the Construct, they can control them even if they have no more metals, so I doubt a Coppercloud would save them. 1
Duxredux he/him Posted March 5, 2025 Posted March 5, 2025 There's a point of diminishing returns in modern Hemalurgy that was not present during Era 1. Ruin stretched the limits on the extent that humans could be warped by his power allowing dozens of spikes to be implanted. After the Catacendre, the human soul cannot be distorted to the same extent as the old Inquisitors, barring hypothetical interference from another Shard. The soul simply stops accepting powers from addition spikes (TLM arcanum) In other words, modern Hemalurgists have a limited number of "power slots" even without the Flaw becoming an issue. I don't know the exact number of slots, but choosing A-Copper solely for the dampening effect may not be worth it, particularly as it would require you to burn it 24/7 to be safe(r). 1

There could certainly be advantages to that. I think, at the very least, having a Coppercloud to reduce powerful external influences would be useful for mitigating the flaw, though aluminum hats seem to already help with that. There might be some wiggle room for highly Invested Ruinous beings to sidestep aluminum and control Hemalurgic constructs regardless because their spikes Connect them to Ruin directly, but that's just a hypothesis with little evidence (my one foundation being that Paalm didn't just get aluminum-lined bones or a full set like MeLaan and had to rely on individual Trellium spikes). Still, any extra protection would be nice for a Hemalurgist just in case. The other useful component would be using a Coppercloud to mask your use of multiple powers. Drawing attention for Soothing, Coinshot-ing, and Thugging out all at once is unwise, in my opinion. 1
JustQuestin2004 he/him Posted March 6, 2025 Posted March 6, 2025 Pretty sure that just wearing aluminum would work best, since it won't take up a 'Power Slot', and can block more than just emotional Allomancy.
