Argenti he/him Posted January 10, 2025 Posted January 10, 2025 We haven't done nearly enough worldbuilding to satisfy me

Argenti he/him Posted January 10, 2025 Posted January 10, 2025 The example PC, I guess. What do y'all think? Spoiler Name: Lucia to her close friends. Councilwomen Verucia to everyone else. Job: Prominent Councilwomen of the Station Appearance: Lucia, as many of those who are gene edited are, is tall, imperious, and vaguely attractive in a very austere way. Her family is of Italian descent, giving her a darker completion, and even darker hair. However, after a long life of stress and politics, her formally jet-black hair is streaked with grey and white. Faint crows feet ring her eyes. Personality: As her appearance may suggest, Lucia is severe and unforgiving. She does not tolerate mistakes, nor failures, both in herself and in others. Lucia claims she is unwilling to compromise on her beliefs, but under her hard exterior she has a heart of gold. She truly cares for the people of the station, and will do anything to prevent their destruction. She will hold the whole thing together, or die trying. Skills and Powers: Argument and Rhetoric, (Lucia has spent her lifetime proving her point. She hasn't gotten rusty yet.) A surprising amount of hand to hand combat (Lucia's intolerance for failures extends her body, and she keeps her body in as good a shape as she can, which includes practicing the self defense regiment she took when she first was elected.), Governmental Influence and Favors (A long fixture of the political landscape, Lucia has more power and influence than one might think. Everyone has needs a favor at some point, and with Lucia, the price always comes due) Backstory: ughhh i'll write one when we finish worldbuilding and a character or two comes around. I can't keep calling it the station.

Argenti he/him Posted January 10, 2025 Posted January 10, 2025 I should probably make a second one, since I've already sentenced Lucia to death. 1
Argenti he/him Posted January 10, 2025 Posted January 10, 2025 How fast are human ships top speed? Sub light, obviously, but we're still in the solar system right?

After a brief Google search, it would take 39 days to reach Mars at its closest point in orbit to Earth if the ship flew 58,000 kph/36,000 mph

If humanity has even remotely colonized anything past mars, we should have a speed significantly beyond that. Where in the Solar system are we?

It's us, Mars' orbit, asteroid belt, the gas giants' orbits, Pluto, and then probably the station. At the speeds mentioned before, it would take 9.5 years to reach Pluto - so if we do triple that it could have taken 3 years to get past Pluto 1

Do we want other stations in the outer shell? I vote for yes, or at least a signifigent Pluto station.

Through the Living Heir he/him Posted January 10, 2025 Posted January 10, 2025 I’m out of technology questions for the time being… never mind. Do we want laser weapons? Or cybernetics? How much does it hurt to get hit by a drive plume that fast? Or is it reactionless?
