Hi everyone! I attended Dragonsteel Nexus 2024 (and Worldhopper Ball) where I was introduced to the 17th Shard, so I decided to make an account here to get more involved in the community!

I read my first Brandon Sanderson book, Steelheart, right around the time it first released, but didn't actually take the dive into the Cosmere until mid-2023, and since then, I've read everything, including Wind and Truth. I'm also an active member of the Colorado Springs Coppermind Book Club (where I'm based out of), and have been beta testing the Cosmere RPG as a GM.

Super excited to be a part of the community!

Hello. Sorry about that.

Welcome to the Shard! Don't eat the cookies.

1. If you were a misting, what kind would you want to be?

2. What Radiant order are you?

3. HOW'S THE COSMERE RPG?! I pledged for GM and I'm actually so eager to know how it plays!

Hi!

What's you're favorite world/magic system?

Ooh, that's a tough one. I do love some Rosharan stormlight, but the Twinborn magic system of Era 2 is so much fun, so probably twin born Allomancy and Feruchemy.

Hey there, friend! Welcome to the Shard! :D

What's your favorite type of spren?

I'm a Willshaper per the Knights Radiant quiz, so I do have a bias towards lightspren, but also I've always thought Cultivationspren were super cool in design.

Favorite Twinborn combo?

I'm a Wayne fan through and through. Give me Bendalloy and Gold any day. Or steel and gold, because steelpushing would be so much fun, but I'd be terrified I'd break all the bones in my body if I tried to fly.

Hello!! Welcome aboard!

How've you liked the Cosmere RPG?

It's SO much fun. I'm a long time Fantasy Flight Star Wars GM, so the plot die is very reminiscent of their system. I love that the Cosmere system focuses on narrative first, and really allows for non-combatant players to have time to shine.

1. Steelpush/Coinshot for sure.

2. Willshaper! (though Edgedancer was a close second)

3. See above, but it's very much like if DnD and FFG Star Wars had a baby, and I think it really captures the strengths of each system, while ignoring some of the weaknesses. DnD errs on becoming to combat heavy if you're not careful, and Star Wars' narrative system can be kind of intimidating for people who have difficulty thinking more improvisationally and want to know if their dice rolls did the thing or not. So the Cosmere RPG keeps the "yes you did or no you didn't" aspect, but allows for much more fluidity in storytelling with the Plot die.

Wayne and Adolin are my top two. Always.

As for my Breath, I'm trying to build up to skip capacity, so I'll have to politely decline :)

Oh, that sounds fantastic. I like when noncombatants get to have their big moments too. I'm excited to try it. Haven't had a chance yet but I'm gonna keep an eye out for a group or try to run Stonewalkers when it's out.

I have a local group that I've been taking through the beta and home-brew materials, and there's a point where one of the Alethi captains is taken over by the Thrill, and one of my players managed to shoot an arrow through his greave to pin his hand to the wall, and our decidedly non-combantant scholar (in the middle of combat) decided she wanted to try to talk him down from his Thrill high (a la Dalinar in Oathbringer), and when I had her roll + raise the stakes, she rolled a Nat 20 with a nat 6 opportunity on the plot die.So the Alethi captain ended up joining their party as an NPC.

Oh, that's amazing. I love it. Really good use of mechanics there, too, and great opportunity for the scholar.

How have you liked character customization and advancement?

For what we have, it's good. But we don't have everything - just two Radiant orders (Windrunner and Lightweaver), and most character trees are only 2/3 paths complete. So it's cool, but advancement leaves a bit to be desired.

Yeah, that makes sense. Hopefully they'll expand it. It'll be nice to see the full picture.
