Mattel Posted November 28, 2024 Posted November 28, 2024 I am currently listening to WoR right now, and twice has Chanarach been mentioned in a way that relates to a familial connection. Dalinar thinks something about Chanarach help the man who comes between a mother and her brood. There is a second mention that I cannot remember, but I think it was something along the lines of Chanarach knows how hard family is. Something like that. All of the Heralds names are used in specific ways that suggest their history and background, is the theory that I am developing. Jezrien's name is envoked a lot, along with Ash's. Nale is frequently used as "Nalan's hand!" and similarly for the others. Taln's Scar is a prominent star pattern in the sky, I think. Probably the equivalent of our milkyway or big dipper, I suspect. So back to Chanarach. Twice that I can remember off the top of my head she is referenced to an idea/concept of difficult family relationships. That does not seem like something Sanderson just slipped in for fun, this feels farrrrr to purposeful. Anyone have fun speculations about this? 1

The most commonly held conjecture from WoR-RoW (I avoid spoilers, so no SA5 content that I know of, but I also have not read all of these threads because I am wary of Spoilers) is: Spoiler Chana is Shallan's Mother. Or the Opposite 1
