I'm mostly here for Stormlight Archive, and will likely simply lurk in the relevant streams for that, but I may skulk through other Cosmere tidbits occasionally.

There is some medical context behind my low engagement, so please do not mistake that for lack of enthusiasm - I have the many spreadsheet pages to prove otherwise! Unfortunately, they aren't really in a state to be shared with all and sundry, there's a good deal of half-finished maths and messy shorthand in there; the medical stuff affects my memory, so I'm doing a notes-intensive re-read of the series ahead of Wind and Truth's release - I probably won't be done by the time it's out, but I'd rather actually know what's going on when I do read it than speed through.

The foreshadowing is absolutely mind-blowing. Did y'all know that in WoR, there's a chapter with the bridgemen and Kaladin discussing where Teft got to, and then the next chapter is Shallan conversing with Tyn while Tyn "gets on the moss"? I was so agog when I noticed it that I sputtered.

Pleasure to make your acquaintance.

What Knights Radiant order are you?

@TwinStorm

I actually haven't done the quiz yet! I found the questions - phrasing and quantity - a bit overwhelming last time I looked. I've been meaning to do it tho!

Nice! Are you new to the series/Cosmere as well? How far have you read?

Ah, I'm Sapphic too! Always good to meet other folks of a similar persuasion around :D

Hey there! Welcome to the Shard! :D

What's your favorite type of spren?

@Through The Living Glass

I don't know if I have one so far 🤔 I do have a particular affection for Pattern though! I love imagining the way he talks and hums, especially when he's in the early stages of (re?)gaining sapience. His lack of awareness of human social conventions and figures of speech is very autistic-coded, so I feel an affinity with him for that.

I did find in early WoK that Elhokar mentions seeing figures similar to the Cryptics Shallan describes later. It devastated me to realise he would've been a Lightweaver. [Storm] Moash.

Do you have a favourite spren?

If you could, what Parshendi form would you adopt.

@Xiahida

*consults aforementioned spreadsheet*

Nimbleform, I think. My IRL Calling is animal science - specifically behaviour and psychology for rehabilitation, so the deftness it offers would be good for animal handling; it also seems the most multi-purpose of the forms. I would love to try scholarform for its facilitation of learning too!

Is there one you'd like to try?

Thank you very much.

I do have the game, but my current PC is 8 years old so I don't game much. I am saving for a new one though, so I'll soon be able to game a lot more!

Do you ask as an introductory courtesy, or because there's perhaps a Realm (!! rather fitting to call it that here, eh) for members of the site or similar?

Nice! I started with Mistborn maybe 8 or so years ago, flew through it and a bunch of his other novels at the local library. Enjoyed it, but another author had my top favourite spot for a while (Robin Hobb, she wrote the Realm of the Elderlings saga, it's so good!!)... Until I started reading Stormlight!! It is truly the crowning jewel of Sanderson's works (at least of those I have read), and the best of all fantasy - all fiction, even - that I've ever read.

The foreshadowing, the way the plot and world ties into the cosmere, the characters' personalities, relationships and arcs (the fact that the way that each of them sees the world comes through in the details mentioned in each chapter!!), the worldbuilding we get alongside the characters and also a little extra at the beginning of each chapter. The fact that with the steady compilation of snippets here and there, one can get a far broader insight on Roshar than by simply reading the books. I read Stormlight to enjoy the characters and their relationships, whereas most other fantasy I've read simply because the lore intrigues me and the characters are just vehicles to explore it. The reality of Kaladin's depression, Shallan's DID, Renarin's autism and epilepsy; the respect that these are shown in the writing.

I could go on, but I'll spare you lol. In short, I am rather enamoured with the series.

Also, I haven't heard 'Brando Sando' before, I like it 😆
