A soldier knocked on Felicity’s door, but another person opened it abruptly.

Her father. Mirth had delivered on her promise.

But… he was… different.

His clothing was ragged, and his gaze wasn’t exactly focused. He didn’t seem… drunk… exactly… but…

Something was off. His unfocused eyes seemed to dart around the room, and he was muttering. Very quietly:
