Freedom laughed, and Intellect stopped being caveman. “Just a bit of fun. Intellect wants to know how you can see some version of us, as well as how Felicity and the private investigator have… slight extra capabilities. He is still trying to understand the Archstone, poor fool.”

“Well, Intellect, I think your problem is that the true discoveries are made by people a bit insane. The kind of insanity that makes you do something nobody thinks is possible or worth it, and then to keep trying to do it when it doesn’t work. And the object you’re trying to understand was made by the maddest, most audacious genius of them all. You need to accept something truly incomprehensible, and pretend it makes sense until it does. Mad audacity, if I think correctly, does not suit you. And Freedom doing it for you is not a solution you’d accept.” He stops for a second. “That was surprising coherent, on my part. I guess hallucinations and actual insanity aren’t the same. Anyway, you need someone that Intellect trusts but Freedom can empower. Someone high functioning insane to comprehend it, and someone brilliant enough to use it. So you should both give your powers to someone who’s already proved themselves. Like the Duke - although he’s supposed to be dead and also might be too important to be effectively controlled by fits of whimsy and ignorant - or disregardful - of any sort of decorum.”

Neither me nor Cole has any exterior motive for such a speech. :ph34r:

“I understand and appreciate the occasional necessity of the crazed, desperate studying of a researcher. But I fundamentally cannot work through this without order. And an understanding of the Archstone would help me… perform certain tasks.”

He paused. “A deal. I will tell you the location of the Archstone, and you will work me through how it works. Accelerate my slow documentation of it.”

@Ookla the Dragonslayer
Cole smiles with slightly alarming cheer, glad to have actually come to a deal, especially one that seems to involve him being handed objects of power, and then him - not Freedom - being the one to give Intellect that information. “Great, I will fulfill that deal! Probably! I think the more I do things, the more erratic I get. But for now, I intend to help you comprehend the Archstone. When do we start? Should the others come along?”

Now that I think about it, a combination of Madness and Intellect yields my personality.

Sounds great. Where'd he go?

Cole is still in the throne room, the Duke’s armor next to him. He’s speaking quietly, and keeps turning back and forth. He’s also excited about something, it seems.

There he is!

Intellect nodded. “This makes sense,” he mused. “The stone is located in that town each of you passed!”

Cole smiles brightly. “Great! Then I won’t get lost!” He turns to the others and slightly discreetly announces. “We have more things to do! And this time Intellect told me to do them - so they’re probably good ideas for fighting Rage.”

He’s in the throne room talkin to himself.

But he’s about to depart on a quest to take over the world.

Cole begins to “sneakily” saunter out of the room. He couldn’t have himself arrested for “killing” the Duke, now could he. That would be bad for whomever tried.
