If I were to encase his hands in ice -once he's stopped shooting fire, of course- then the next time he tries to do it, the ice would evaporate into steam and essentially boil and cook anything still encased in ice. It's . . . kind of brutal, actually.

When he is strengthened by a Spirit, his Thread is strengthened. When he uses too much of his power, his Thread is weakened.

You need to cut off his supply. He isn't being strengthened by the fire, but by the wind. Madness cannot pull away from him until that is cut.
