Would it be possible to go to the Nightwatcher and ask, for your boon, to choose your curse?

I realize this is kind of random and probably irrelevant but I want to know...

Do you mean the boon is "Choose my curse" (effectively a curse without a boon) or "Boon and choose my curse?"

What would happen if you went to the Nightwatcher asked for your boon to have a boon and no curse?

Brandon Sanderson

You would…

Questioner

Probably end up with nothing?

Brandon Sanderson

It depends on the mood the Nightwatcher is in.  When you read Book 3 of Stormlight you’ll get to see a little bit of what the Nightwatcher is, and that will inform what you think about these things, okay?

I feel like that would be risky because what if she just granted you the curse with no corresponding boon lol.

Or like do you mean being clever in a way that you ask for a specific curse that allows you to choose a boon?

Hahaha, that's clever, but she would probably just give you what she feels like you deserve, same as she usually does for most people who visit her.

That said, if you do manage to leave her puzzled, or ask for something noble enough or totally off the wall, there's always a small chance that Cultivation might get involved; she appears to have a lot more power over the old magic than the night watcher...which might help.

Yeah I think the book said at one point you don't get to choose your curse, she gives what she thinks is necessary.
