Oran shouts as Bokurei goes flying back "No! Bokurei!" Oran catches her and uses a revive (just so she can watch) "Stay there and rest now." He turns back to the battle "Oh, it's on now. Spark, Ember on impidimp!" Spark tries to stoke the flames but a particularly bad jolt of static causes her to tense up and flinch (Paralyzed).

"Fake Tears and Branch Poke," Cash says. Impidimp takes a minute to process what Cash says, and then emits a wail that causes Spark to hesitate on top of the paralysis. Phantump goes up to Spark and slaps her across the face, but it does not do much damage.

"Geez, you're good." Oran stops to think "Spark, use quick attack on Impidimp." Spark gets poked for minor damage, pushes through the horrible wailing and the paralysis and zips through the field too fast to see before materializing in front of Impidimp with a slam.

Cash nods. “Dark Pulse and Branch Poke,” he says. Impidimp, reeling from the quick attack, begins to aim a dark pulse, and the attack is wild and uncontrolled. It causes him to hit himself and singe his arm. The pain causes his eyes to clear. Meanwhile, Phantump manages to catch Spark on the tail end of her quick attack and gets some more damage in.

Confusion cleared after three turns. I’m really just BSings these mechanics, cause I don’t know what causes one to snap out of confusion.

Sorry, the notification got buried.

Spark resists the branch poke and doesn't take much damage but she seems like she's struggling to fly "Spark, come on. One more ember on Phantump!" Spark pushes through the paralysis and heat builds up in her system as she blasts fire out of her beak.

Phantump quite literally slaps away the fire. Her arm is singed, but not much damage is done otherwise. "Dark Pulse and Branch Poke once more," Cash says. Both attacks hit, and Spark is downed.

"Not bad, kid," Cash calls. As his Pokemon returned to him jubilant, Cash congratulated them. "You both make a phenomenal team," Cash stated. "This final gym battle will be a piece of cake."

Oran looks a bit bummed but heals up Spark a bit before walking over to Cash offering his hand out "Nice job, you really had me all the way through. We didn't stand a chance. You'll definitely win against the gym here for sure."

Cash took his hand and shook it, then shrugged. "Well, you haven't thought about how your Pokemon synergize. It's strange to think about at first, and I'm certainly not the best at it. You'll get better though. You think along the right lines." As Phantump floated back onto his head and Impidimp settled on his shoulder, Cash sighed. "Looks like I have some thinking to do as well," he mused aloud.

Cash abrubtly turned around and walked back to the suburbs. "I'm headed home, but I'll be at the Gym tomorrow. Join if you want, won't change what I'll do."

Oran is surprised by this invitation but seems happy too "Ok, will do! See you tomorrow!" Oran runs backwards in the opposite direction waving to Cash.

Cash walked home as the day drew to a close. By the time he was home, stars had begun to show their light in the sun's abscence. He entered the house, and his Impidimp ran to the kitchen. Phantump nervously floated off of his head and gazed at the homey living room. Cash's mom walked around the corner, causing Phantump to freeze and Impidimp to give a joyful noise.

"You're home," Cash's mom said with a tired smile.

"That I am," Cash replied, with a smile that matched.

"Who is your new friend?" Mom asked, gesturing to the Phantump.

"This is Phantump," Cash stated. "I needed some help getting past the Gym of this town, so I've made a deal with her," he replied. "So far, she has been amazing!" Phantump got a bit closer to Cash's mom and hovered at eye level.

"Well, as long as you are both taking care of each other," she responded. She adressed Phantump directly: "If he doesn't, you know where to find me, and I'll make sure he does," she stated. Phantump gave a small smile, and began to wander the house. "How did the Gym go?" Mom asked Cash.

"Not bad," Cash replied. "They're all Dark Types, so Gremlin has a hard time, and to be frank, so does Phantump. But they're both able to push through and take victories against the lackeys." Cash paused for a second. "That is something I never understood about Gyms. I know Dad ran one for a while before he changed jobs twice and we all moved here, but what is the reasoning behind all of those lackeys? Filtering? Weeding out the undetermined? I'm going to fight the gym leader anyway so what is the point?"

"Your father says it's tradition," Mom replied. "Regardless, you didn't make too much of a fuss, did you?"

"No," Cash replied, walking to the kitchen and pulling out ingredients for dinner. "I did ask every lackey if I could skip though."

Cash's mom smiled. "Of course you did," she sighed.

Their conversation continued for a while until Cash's dad came home from work, and the topic looped back around to Gyms once again. Cash retreated to his room with his pokemon after a while to play some games with Impidimp. Phantump paritally possesed a spare controller and joined in on the fun. After a few hours, early in the morning, they all went to sleep, resting for the final challenge tomorrow.

I don't know Oran's personality, but if he shows up early at the Gym Cash ain't waking up for a while. I'll give you time to make a post, but if not I'll keep moving forward.

Oran arrives at the gym at the crack of dawn. There is a tent nearby that is probably his and he's sitting outside of the tent in a lawn chair watching some pancakes get cooked on a battery powered skillet while watching Poketube on his rotom phone 13 pro Max.

After spending time with his pokemon, Cash wakes up early in the afternoon. Forget the sun coming in his window, the sun is coming through the house's skylight. He went downstairs, saw a note about where his parents had gone for the day (work and work), and made breakfast for his team. Following this, he went to the Gym, arriving around 2 in the afternoon.
