Niamh nodded, still mainly concerned for June.

July helped June up onto his horse, and then mounted behind him. August got on his horse as well.

"It'll just be a short ride, but try to not to get lost, and follow me close, alright?"

"Thank you," He said, making sure to meet her eyes.

"We're fine with going to hide with some friends of mine then? It'll be safe," He said, turning to address the others.

"Fine with me," July said.

She didn’t look happy about it, but she trusted him. She pet her horse’s neck. “Should I take September or May with me?”

when you forget about your own npcs . . .

"I can ride a horse, actually, but it's hard without my specific one who's trained to help me . . . It'd probably be best if I rode with someone," September said quietly.

"Would you like to ride with me then?" August offered, looking down at a map of Jouken he'd pulled out of his pocket.

"Um . . . n-no I'd really rather not . . ." The younger man replied nervously.

"Alright then, I'll take May." August held out a hand to help her up beside him on the horse.

nope that works

He swung up onto the horse, surprisingly less awkward then one would expect.

"We're off then," August said, after May had climbed onto his own horse with him, "Follow me."

He turned and rode off out of the stable, through the deserted courtyard, and into the crowded streets beyond, expecting the others to follow.

Niamh shrugged and followed after collecting her own horse.

She rode up next to June and July.

"You okay?" she asked the former.

"Now that we're on a horse I can pass out . . ." He mumbled.

July shrugged. "Hopefully there will be some first-aid stuff wherever it is we're going."

They rode past her after August.

"Like I said," He replied, turning back to her just as he reached a first intersection.

"I have some friends who live on the city outskirts, we're going to wait for this all to blow over there."

okay we're off then

@BlueWildRye

It did turn out to be a fairly short trip, despite how large the city was. The majority of traffic was on foot, so most people moved out of their way as they rode through. It was also early morning, before dawn, at this point and while the city never slept it was a little less crowded.

The location turned out to be a somewhat shady looking tavern, will an almost caved in roof and mossy stone foundation. It sat on the edge of a city, facing the palace with it's back against a small hill. A few lights shone through the front windows, but the top looked dark and strange. Unlike most places this time of night it seemed mostly empty, and as August helped May down and tied down his horse, very little of the expected night-crowd noise could be heard.

Would she have been there before?

"We're here," she said to September as she dismounted.

May waited by August.

nopeee

He took her hand and slid to the ground, more then a little nervous because he really had no idea where the were.

"They will most likely not find us here," August explained, gesturing at the run-down building, "Hopefully, maybe."

He opened the door, spreading more yellow light across the street and went inside.

July slid off his own horse and pulled June--who'd clearly been dozing--woke with a start as July pulled him down.

"They'll have some medical stuff we can patch you up with," August called from where he stood holding the door.

June just nodded through gritted teeth, and July helped him inside.

After tying her own horse, she led September to the door. "It looks like a tavern."

"It smells like the kind of tavern you get mugged in," September replied. He'd kept hold of her hand.

He thought for a moment.

"Maybe the history you learned at the palace was different? I did not grow up there, as you know."

“I didn’t get an education in history. Just the late emperor’s religion.”

"Ah," He said with a nod, "That would make sense."
