Hmm... you know, we were assuming that Marasi was right about him having another metalmind somewhere. But if Sazed wanted those words to be heard, he could have fueled Miles' feruchemy directly to give him the time to speak.

Yes! This makes much sense! She said (Marasi) that the officers searched Miles everywhere when they arrested him, and before the shooting, to make sure he had no metalminds. When I first read AoL, I had assumed that because Miles Compounded using Allomancy, he swallowed metalminds, and so they were in his stomach (is this true? If it was I doubt Miles would wear any on his arms?). But maybe, he really didn't have any. At the same time, if they were Hemalurgically driven into him, such as with the arm bracers, Harmony could use these moments to speak to alot of people, everyone who attended the execution, in a meaningful way.

However, Miles seems to expect the boost of healing he receives at the execution. This implies that either he was healing himself, or the Harmony told him he would preserve him so he would speak to them, appear as a legend, and then when Miles served his purpose, stopped fueling the Feruchemy.

What I don't understand is that, if Harmony is aware of danger, he doesn't tell ALL the Pathists, including Wax, to become the Preachers, the Harbingers of the men of Red and Gold, as surely this would spread the information far wuicker than at a villain's execution? After all, who would believe him?

In my opinion Miles wasn't having any crazy supernatural visions. The biggest evidence I have for this is his cigar box. It is red and gold, just like the "men of red and gold, bearers of the final metal". Just looking at this, it appears like circumstantial evidence but there is a quote that connects them.

ZAS678 (REDDIT.COM)

Is it significant that Miles said that the "men of gold and red" would come and rule? Is there a connection between this and the "gold and red" cigar box that Miles keeps The Suit's comings and goings on?

BRANDON SANDERSON (REDDIT.COM)

This is all very significant.

So there is some connection between Miles and these mysterious men. So, at least in my opinion, it is easier to hypothesize that Miles knew about these men, presumably from the Southern hemisphere. Maybe he was planning on handing Elendel over to them, but that part doesn't really matter. So pretend that he new a bit about them and their goals, that they plan to take over Elendel and enslave them all. So as these people are executing him he just decides to tell them that they're all going to die anyway. He can strike fear into their hearts at least one more time.

It would be interesting if Sazed was talking to Miles, but I just don't find that very likely. Firstly Miles need to have a Hemalurgic spike to communicate with Harmony. There isn't any indication that any of his metalminds are Hemalurgic, and he's a Trellist, not a Pathian, so he definitely doesn't have an earring. Also why would he tell Miles this stuff? Sazed could easily just tell Wax the same thing. Wax who is now a respected member of society and an officer of the law. Who would be able to help more at this point? Him or the guy being executed? No one, not even Wax will believe the ravings of a presumably insane man. So Sazed might as well not have said anything at all, if it was going to such an unhelpful outlet. I know some people believe that Sazed has to help both good and evil which is a sound idea. But why wouldn't he just boost Miles's health for a minute or something and give the information to Wax, to someone who can do something with it? That way he'd still be helping both good and evil. I just think that there are more likely, non-supernatural reasons for Mile's knowledge, but I respect anyone who believes differently.

Edit: Sorry that I said the same thing as Odium's_Shard, somehow I missed that part when I read the topic

I agree with Windrunner about Mile's saying Harmony's words doing more harm than good, as when a more reliable source emerges, people would exclaim that he says the same things as a prisoner, a madman, and thus derive the message.

Besides, the 'red and gold cigar box' brand was 'Citizen Magistrates'. An expensive brand. Do you think that these 'magistrates' are the friends of Edwarn Ladrian in the upper crust, involved in this scheme about the women? Or at least, they own the brand, the company? And so Miles in his final breath made a warning, or a threat, to the peoples, that these people and their scheme (loosely referenced with the cigar box so that only Wax could understand the hidden meaning?) will bring about the downfall of democracy, or at least become all powerful, using their new Mistborn?

Or, even more dangerously, are they attempting to abuse the Allomantic genes of these women, not to combine all the powers into one body, for then this body could just kill them too, being way too powerful to control, but to increase the chance that they will create a child that is a Misting for the 'final metal'. Perhaps Mistings of this type are extremely rare, or have no access to or knowledge of the metal and their powers, and so when this Misting, a Finalist, is created, and the power is exceptionally incredible, then they could rule this way?

I don't think Harmony did that. I think that Harmony had a pretty good idea of what Miles would say, and felt it would be worth hearing for someone out there, most likely Marasi. And Iron Eyes thought Marasi needed to be more directly involved, so he gave her a Push and a Pull and a book (nominally for Wax, but telling her "Totally read it if your curious, because it's so intended for your hero lawman, wink wink nudge nudge" is way more effective than telling her "Here, read this, and don't ask questions").

However, Miles seems to expect the boost of healing he receives at the execution. This implies that either he was healing himself, or the Harmony told him he would preserve him so he would speak to them, appear as a legend, and then when Miles served his purpose, stopped fueling the Feruchemy.

I don't think Miles expected it, actually. He's all ice at first, making Marasi monologue about how he was that way even when holding a gun to her head. Then he gets shot and starts healing, and suddenly he's smiling widely, eyes wild, and yelling at his executioners.

What I don't understand is that, if Harmony is aware of danger, he doesn't tell ALL the Pathists, including Wax, to become the Preachers, the Harbingers of the men of Red and Gold, as surely this would spread the information far quicker than at a villain's execution? Too direct. He gave Wax the chance to stop one of his own, and he gave Miles the chance to make a difference against the men of Red and Gold. I think this was probably Harmony's balance.

I'm afraid I'm not following here. They were still free to make choices no matter what Sazed did. As a matter of fact they may have been more able to make their own choices if Sazed hadn't gotten involved. He'd be constraining their options if he was driving them toward a conflict. What am I missing?

Or he'd be opening options up to them that they didn't have before. By interfering, Sazed changed the conditions in which the individuals were living. Choices depend on one's circumstances, by changing the circumstances, Sazed could have created more choices than they had before.

Think of Sazed the way you might think of higher education. Higher Ed doesn't make people inherently better, but it does give them tools which opens up more opportunities than they had before. Take away higher ed, and people just don't have the same options anymore.
