"Well, I try not to be like the people who see me and decide that they should get rid of the thing that scares them, even though that thing is a person."

Elsie frowned. She took a second to process before responding to that. "Do you want a hug?" She asked.

In a moment of surprise, Terrance's eyes met hers. He immediately looked away, but it was too late. Elsie felt a wave of terror and dread.

She slipped onto her but, having not expected that. "Whoa-"

It would probably be enough to shake her pretty badly

"Sorry," he said quietly. He felt his hands tremble slightly.

"That- what just happened?" She asked, voice a bit shaky.

"I don't know that I'd say mean. They don't trust me, so it's best not to trust them either."

She frowned looking sad. "But, if you don't trust people..." She walked over to him, still a bit shaky, as her heart had not recovered. She sat next to him, and gave him a hug.

She doesn't like seeing people being in pain.

Overhearing the conversation between Terrance and Elsie, Jenny’s heart sank. He was talking to Elsie more than he’d ever spoken with Jenny across multiple conversations. He seemed to like the girl. So he did just hate Jenny.

Why did this hurt so much? She was used to people hating her. She’d become hardened to being someone everyone else despised. But the reasoning behind Terrance’s friendliness made this situation different.

He thought that Elsie was another outcast, someone who was judged for their parentage. He sympathized with Elsie, was kind to her. That meant he likely didn’t judge Jenny for her father, either.

He didn’t hate the idea of Jenny, child of death, like everyone else did. He just hated the person Jenny. Maybe not everyone who hated her did so because of her father. Maybe many didn’t hate Hades and just hated her.

NO JENNY-

Elsie needs to give her a hug too.

He immediately and violently pulled away, scrambling to his feet. "Don't... don't."

Terrance just shook his head. He clenched his hands into fists, but they did not stop shaking.

Is this reaction very visible?

He took a few shaky breaths, then nodded.

Elsie walked away. She felt awful. She hadn't even been in the group for 30 minutes, and she'd already made multiple mistakes.

If Elsie looked back, Terrance would appear to have vanished.

She’s trying to hide it, but it’s slightly visible.

Edgar looked at her, then dropped the skull and walked over to her. He’d get it back later, for now, she was more important. He sat next to her. “What’s wrong?” He whispered to her, grabbing her

Elsie hid behind a bush, and cried silently. She felt really guilty.

Terrance, now mostly invisible, sat down and closed his eyes. How am I so easily overwhelmed? His hands kept shaking and his heart kept pounding.
