Koloss17 She/They Posted February 1, 2024 Posted February 1, 2024 (edited) With Era 7 now over, I am editing this post. I thought it would be smart to make a post summarizing the huge number of pages of RP in era 7 down to an easily digestible chunk. This will be in four categories, the first two would be something a character would realistically know (with the first being more easily accessible than the second), and the back half are more detailed, mostly for your benefit, and the details of which people in-world would have likely forgotten about. Keep in mind that photo technology is not particularly present, so only word of mouth and newspapers of the time can really account for the events. This is meant to be a lore summary for Era 8 folks, and so if you happen to read this afterwards, consider that this is in the context of Era 8, which happened around 6 months after Era 7. What someone that has just entered the Alleyverse would know (and what people that are just living their life would tell you): Spoiler Nothing, unless they went digging for info However, with very little digging, and obviously if you were in the area, you would learn that the Mistwarrens was under new management. Unofficial of course, but a new crime lord has moved in. His name is Perses, and he is known to be incredibly destructive, reducing building to rubble and leaving massacres in his wake. He is known for an inquisitor-like appearance, with a living mistcoat and a deadly pistol. His power set is under much speculation, but it seems he definitely has allomantic steel and iron, with a few people claiming he's an awakener. His cloak, at the very least, seems to be awakened. Additionally, a blood moon had appeared on the night of Perses declaring his dominance over the area, which adds to the mythical nature of him. Some people like that he's reduced crime in the Mistwarrens, others despise him, but everyone fears him. Though he could be dealt with by a more powerful foe, one has not yet shown up. This happened about half a year before Era 8. What someone who has been in the Alleyverse (and have been paying attention) for a while would know: Spoiler The area has been gang-ridden for a while, at least until Perses arrived, and law enforcement had been scarce, which undoubtedly led to Perses' takeover. The first time Perses hit the public eye was with the massacre at Coppercloud Inn, but his actions even dated back to a few days prior, with the leveling of Pewter Ironworks. In the wreck of Pewter Ironworks, various graffiti have been plastered, all in defiance of Perses. For some reason, this hasn't been removed by Perses. The event that solidified Perses' power was in the destruction of Smokestack Constabulary during the blood moon. While the building is being rebuilt, the stories and damages of what happened there still persists. People were corrupted, turned into undead, and let loose on the building. Mutated and twisted beings wreaked havoc on the constabulary, and ended with a majority of the constables in the building at the time brutally murdered. Survivors were traumatized, and the police chief at the time, Phemus, stepped down after the event. Perses is often cited as the cause of the event, and was commonly reported to be there, reveling in the chaos. However, rumers of the event has run wild, and reports are contradictory. For the particularly investigative, there was a character that has largely been forgotten about. Known as Asylum, they caused the burning of Bendalloy Bar and was also reportedly responsible for a lot of the chaos in the Smokestack Constabulary, as reported by many of the constables that survived the event. They seemed to be a henchman of Perses, but was killed by Perses himself near the end of the event. Once Asylum died, the undead creatures that invaded the constabulary all died. Whether they were the cause of the chaos of that day is unclear, but nothing remotely similar to that day has happened since. A meta cheat sheet summary of the Era 7 plot: Spoiler I am in the process of editing this, but I will post a reply when I'm done Perses, a pseudo inquisitor with the powers of the Fifth Heightening, A-Iron, Steel, and Bronze, and F-Tin has begun a quest for power in Alleycity. He has attacked two buildings in the Mistwarrens, and has clearly established himself as a threat. He has few allies, but he is very dangerous in his own right. However, much of where he came from and how he became so powerful is still a mystery, with no one knowing his exact powers. He is powerful, but also slightly mad, with voices in his head speaking to him. He has recently acquired a new pistol, capable of firing both powerful tungsten rounds and aluminum rounds. At the moment, he is also causing quite the ruckus in the Corridor, with a hit at Dancing with Death Diner. Corbeau, a high prelan before recently arriving in Alleycity, has plans to become mayor of Alleycity. First, however, he has decided to take it upon himself to stop Perses. He is slowly but surely gathering allies to his cause, but has shown himself to be a clever manipulator and leader. However, he is still not very well known in Alleycity. There are also some new challengers trying to stop Perses, though few have actually confronted the man. A nitty gritty summary of each of the events in chronological order: Spoiler I am working on this, and once I am done with everything, I will post an update. Close to a week before the era, Pewter Ironworks was torn to the ground by Perses, an A-Bronze F-Tin twinborn with the fifth heightening and two hemalurgic spikes, one A-Iron and one A-steel, in his eyes. He did this to get information on where an Atium cache that the gang controlling the factory had hidden. He learned that the cache was hidden in a vault in Coppercloud Inn, an inn controlled by the same gang, the Tin Street Mafia. Corbeau, a high prelan that has just recently arrived in Alleycity, decided that it was his mission to take down Perses as part of his plan to become mayor of Alleycity. However, he lacked support, as he had no powers of his own past pure intellect. Perses staged a heist on Coppercloud Inn, which went awry as Corbeau arrived with assistance after investigating the mess of Pewter Ironworks. His allies consisted of Lei, a forger, and Itsuki, another powerless individual that was wrapped into it. Asylum Smedry, a chaotic being with the talent of superstition and an ally of Perses also appeared on the scene. He had wrapped in Eza, a young lurcher thief, into the mess as well. A fight broke out, with Perses leaving unscathed, the building mostly intact, and the only casualties being the occasional gang member. Perses emerged with the atium he was looking for, announcing himself as the Prince of the Alleys, and Corbeau emerged realizing the lack of power he truly had against Perses. The next day, Perses went to the Silver Dagger in the Corridor to visit Venser, a vial broker doubling as a black market weaponsmith. He paid him handsomely, but had to wait a few days to have the pistol he was looking for built. A day later, the Kitsen cytonic named Keshi, who uses a hyperslug to travel around, investigated into the Silver Dagger for Corbeau. He learned of the arms deal, and retreated to Corbeau to plan a sting. Meanwhile, Corbeau has gained the loyalty of Sonyr, a bronze compounder with access to a secret library, who was originally a night guard for Coppercloud Inn. Corbeau did this through a variety of ways, with the final straw being hiring someone to set fire to Sonyr's library and pin it on Perses. While all this happened, Asylum managed to start a fight with Arranis and Eleos, two Rosharan radiants, in the Bendalloy Bar. During this, Asylum managed to set fire to the bar due to his talent getting out of control. Everyone escaped unharmed, but caused quite the spectacle. Around the same time as the burning of Bendalloy Bar, Perses collected his weapon: a sleek fully aluminum pistol with coinshot and lurcher locks to handle it. The weapon has the capability to shoot through buildings with tungsten bullets as well as shoot aluminum rounds, and significantly ups Perses' already dangerous capabilities. His plan to "rule" the Mistwarrens was nearing, and he only needed one last item to begin his takeover. First though, Perses needed to test out his new weapon. He went to Dancing with Death Diner, one of the last bases of the Tin Street Mafia. Here he caused a fight, killing many mafia members, but no civilians. Sonyr, who was tricked into thinking Perses burned his library, happened to be there, and engaged him. Keshi, the Kitsen, carefully watched as the fight unfolded. Perses explained that he had no idea who Sonyr was, and with some reluctance, he left, leaving Perses to finish his violent business. Meanwhile, Frisian, an arrogant Skybreaker, aggressively claimed a position in the Smokestack constabulary. He had seen the disorder in the area, and wanted to enforce the law. He bullied his way into being a constable through harrassing Phemus, the noninvested chief constable of the Smokestack Constabulary. His position was under fire for not being competent enough to hold his position. Because of that, he had Frisian go after Asylum, as they were a criminal that had repeatedly evaded the law in Smokestack, developing somewhat of a rivalry with Phemus, in his eyes. At this time, the Koloss Headmunching Festival was underway in the Smokestack, a long standing tradition among Scadrians. Here Asylum and Eza thoroughly enjoyed themselves, up until Frisian attacked. After a brief scuffle, a deal was made, and a competition was struck. Whoever won the most carnival games, one of each of their choices, and one that the crowd of people got to choose. Asylum, through a stroke of bad luck, managed to lose the last competition, leading to him being taken to jail. The next day, Eza planned an escape plan with a stranger turned ally, Eighth of Eve. He was a Patji tracker that had married to a Smedry, granting him the power of getting lost in daydreams. Through this, his talent made him travel randomly across the multiverse, with no control over where he went. This let him gain knowledge and tools from a variety of worlds, which provided him surprising abilities. Through the help of Eighth, the two of them broke into the constabulary, unaware that Asylum had their own plans to escape. Around the same time, Perses was acquiring his final tool. In New Hallandren, he met up with Pygma, an extraordinarily talented awakener that specialized in custom built awakened clothing and weaponry. Through this meeting, Perses gained an awakened mistcoat, armed with a command to fight alongside Perses. While wearing the coat, it protected him from oncoming melee attacks while simultaneously slicing at his enemies with the blades at the end of the mistcoat's tassels. The coat was also covered in various bones, carefully placed to act as armor, as well as intimidation. Paying Pygma in atium, Perses left to return to the Mistwarrens. There are of course side plots, and things slowly unfurling, but that is all you need to know to get started! Of course, you can choose to completely ignore the current going-ons of Alleycity in pursuit of something completely different for your character. So long as you get at least one person to roleplay with, you are good to go! Edited February 1, 2025 by Koloss17 In the process of editing, will hopefully be done soonish! 3
